Today we’d like to introduce you to Pico Cardenas.
Pico, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started personal training back in 2015 out of the garage of my house as a hobby. Before that, after I was done playing college baseball (2010), I began working just to make money and to make sure me and my wife were taken care of. I found myself hopping from job to job chasing the money and I soon realized that this wasn’t what life was about.
I was making good money but I knew I couldn’t settle for that. I didn’t want to be told when I could and couldn’t take time off. People began reaching out to me asking for help with their fitness goals and that’s when I knew this was my second calling after baseball. After about a year in my garage, I found a 900 square foot warehouse that I decided to take the risk and move into. Business started picking up, brought on another trainer (Victor Meza) and the name started to make its way around the city. One year later, we expanded the gym by occupying the warehouse next to the one we already had, making it an 1800 square foot gym. By then we had a total of about four trainers working in this facility and in turn bringing more business and exposure.
At this time we were only a personal training facility due to the lack of space for it to be a fully functional membership gym. Bare in mind, I was still working my full-time job at night and training clients in the mornings and a few hours before I went into work. October 4th, 2017, I took an even bigger risk and decided to quit my full-time job and pursue personal training full time. Shortly after a trainer named Meghan Vasquez reached out to me asking if I had any spots available at our facility for her to train due to the gym she was at moving locations. Little did she know I had actually wanted her on the Bossletics team for the longest so it worked out perfect. She also mentioned to me about this bigger facility becoming available due to this gym moving. I had just quit my job and wasn’t even thinking about moving again anytime soon so I didn’t think much of it.
Let’s just say, another huge risk was taken and December 1st, 2017 Bossletics was moved into a 5500 square foot facility and began running as a fully functional gym! Today, We are getting ready to renew our lease for another two years with about 400 plus members and still growing. Just goes to show anything is possible, you just have to be willing to work for it and believe. If you are reading this and are a member or have supported Bossletics by purchasing any gear or whatever it may be, I just want to say thank you! I wouldn’t be here without y’all.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest, I’m blessed enough to say I haven’t had any major obstacles come in the way of the growth of Bossletics. All of my moves have been planned out and executed at the right time which in turn has allowed Bossletics to be where it’s at now.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bossletics Fitness – what should we know?
Bossletics is now a fully functional membership gym with a warehouse hardcore environment. I am also a personal trainer at my gym that specializes in weight loss transformations and also love working with athletes helping them perfect their craft. As a company, I am most proud of what the members and Bossletics team have helped make Bossletics stand for. We are a family all working together to be better. The gym is full of good vibes, positivity and we are always jamming the best music!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Having faith and determination has helped me get to where I am now. The road to success wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Some days you feel like giving up but I always reminded myself that if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. One thing that kept me going was the fact that I knew where I could be and that’s working a 9-5 for a company that doesn’t even care about you. Not that working a 9-5 is a bad thing but it just wasn’t for me so pursued my dreams and turned them into reality.
