Meet Porshe Randle of Heyitsporshe in Southwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Porshe Randle.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Porshe. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My intro into the social media world was when I started making natural hair YouTube videos in Dec 2013. I uploaded my first video to share my experience with growing my natural hair after a big chop. I didn’t expect that one video to lead to many more videos showcasing my talents in cooking, decor, and also selling on eBay and Amazon. My consistency in selling products online through websites like eBay, Amazon, and Mercari helped me leave the 9-5 life behind. During that time, I also shared the process of how I was selling my products by making YouTube videos and IG story highlights. Selling online gave me time and freedom to grow my social media and focus on empowering other women just by interacting with them.

The supporters I gained from my presence in the natural hair community gradually started being interested in my life beyond just hair. That is what lead to me sharing more valuable things with them that they can use in their everyday life. Social media can make us feel like we have to look a certain way, post the best pictures, and act like we’re living the best lives. When in fact, I think sharing what’s real is more valuable. Gaining an audience online made me realize there’s much power in social media if you use it to your advantage. My YouTube channel currently has over 1 million views all together with videos about hair, decor, cooking, and more. I’m continuing to grow my social media outlets and use them to communicate with women all over the world who can relate to me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles I’m facing along the way haven’t been as hard as I expected. Being a mom of 2 toddlers already forces me to be extremely patient. I apply patience to my business and social media growth as well. When things don’t go as planned, I’m usually prepared for the worst and ready to move on and correct my mistakes. I believe your outlook will determine how you let struggles define your actions. Balancing my time between entrepreneurship and motherhood is a struggle I faced quite often in the beginning. When I left my last 9-5, my daughter was only one year old. She’s four now, so she’s been witnessing my growth as an entrepreneur since the very beginning. As time went on, I got better at creating a healthy balance of work and motherhood, with motherhood taking up majority of the time.

Heyitsporshe – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in online sales with sites like Amazon. I created my bookstore two years ago using Amazon FBA. Amazon FBA allows you to send merchandise into their facilities and they will distribute your products out to customers as they order.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has been interacting with other moms online who started eBay or Amazon simply because my posts. I’ve had people use my YouTube videos and highlights to start their own stores and create extra streams of income. It is so easy to become a struggling mother and the stress of working a minimum wage job can be painful. Some moms just need to hear about other options that they’ve never thought of before. It makes me happy when I can help someone make a change in their life that is long overdue, like being financially secure.
