Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Rosas.
Hi Priscilla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Priscilla Rosas, and I’m the founder and market coordinator of The Runway Market in Houston, Texas.
My entrepreneurial journey actually began back in October 2020. At the time, I was a small business owner myself. I started a boutique called Mont-Vintage & Apparel, where I tie-dyed shirts and thrifted unique pieces that I could transform into something fun, colorful, and one of a kind. It was such a fun era of my life and the beginning of discovering what I truly loved.
As I continued growing my boutique, I began participating in pop-up markets all throughout Houston. Those markets introduced me to an incredible community of small business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs. I spent countless weekends networking, learning from others, and building genuine relationships. The more markets I attended, the more I found myself thinking, “I could really coordinate my own markets.” I wanted to create something on a larger scale—something that would bring people together while giving other small businesses the same opportunity that helped me grow.
That idea eventually became The Monts Pop-Up Market, where I spent the next three years organizing local events and building a community of vendors. What motivated me the most wasn’t just hosting markets—it was watching people believe in themselves, share what they created, and make meaningful connections. I realized I had a passion for bringing people together. Seeing entrepreneurs succeed and knowing I played a small part in their journey was incredibly rewarding.
Eventually, I stepped away from hosting markets for a while so I could focus on school and continue growing professionally. During that time, I also built my career at Apple, where I developed skills in relationship building, customer experience, communication, and business development. Those experiences helped shape me into a stronger leader and entrepreneur.
Fast forward to 2026, and I knew it was time to come back. I rebranded my events as The Runway Market with a renewed vision and purpose. Thanks to the relationships I had built over the years, I was able to reconnect with many familiar faces while continuing to welcome new vendors into our community.
Today, The Runway Market is about so much more than hosting events. My mission is to create opportunities for entrepreneurs to gain exposure, build confidence, grow their businesses, and form lasting connections. As a full-time professional, entrepreneur, and mom, I’ve learned that building something meaningful takes patience, consistency, and a genuine heart for serving others.
When I look around at one of my markets and see vendors talking with customers, families supporting local businesses, and entrepreneurs celebrating their success, it reminds me exactly why I started. My hope is that every person who joins The Runway Market leaves feeling encouraged, supported, and one step closer to achieving their own dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think entrepreneurship is ever a completely smooth road, and my journey has definitely had its share of challenges.
When I first started as a small business owner, I was learning everything on my own. From marketing and branding to event planning and vendor management, every step came with a learning curve. There were moments where I questioned whether I was making the right decisions, but each challenge taught me something valuable and helped me grow.
One of the biggest challenges was balancing everything. As a full-time professional, entrepreneur, and mom, there were times when it felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day. Building something meaningful requires a lot of sacrifice, consistency, and patience. There were late nights planning events, creating marketing materials, responding to vendors, and trying to make sure every market was better than the last.
Another challenge was stepping away from hosting markets for a period of time while I focused on school and my career. It wasn’t an easy decision because I truly loved building that community. At first, I worried that I might lose the momentum and connections I had worked so hard to build.
Looking back now, that pause was actually a blessing in disguise. It gave me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. The skills I gained during that time helped me return with a clearer vision, stronger leadership skills, and a better understanding of how I wanted to serve my community.
I’ve also learned that not every event will be perfect. Weather, attendance, unexpected challenges, and the pressure of wanting every vendor to succeed are all things that come with organizing markets. I care deeply about the people who trust me with their business, so I always feel a responsibility to create the best experience possible. Instead of seeing those moments as failures, I’ve learned to view them as opportunities to improve.
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s that success isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about continuing to show up, learning from every experience, and never losing sight of why you started. For me, that’s creating opportunities for small businesses and building a community where entrepreneurs feel seen, supported, and encouraged.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Today, I’m the founder and market coordinator of **The Runway Market**, a Houston-based pop-up market dedicated to helping small businesses gain exposure, build connections, and grow within their community. While I organize and host local markets, my work goes far beyond simply assigning vendor spaces. I specialize in creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to be seen, whether that’s through social media promotion, vendor spotlights, community engagement, or building events that encourage meaningful connections between businesses and shoppers.
Outside of The Runway Market, I also work full-time at Apple, where I’ve built a career centered around relationship building, business development, and creating exceptional customer experiences. Those skills have carried over into my business and have helped shape the way I communicate, solve problems, and support the entrepreneurs I work with.
One thing I’m especially proud of is that I started this journey as a vendor myself. I understand what it’s like to invest your time, money, and heart into a small business, hoping people will stop by your booth and believe in what you’ve created. Because I’ve been in those shoes, I lead with empathy and always try to put my vendors first.
I think what truly sets me apart is that I don’t see my vendors as customers—I see them as people chasing a dream. I genuinely take the time to get to know them, learn about their businesses, celebrate their wins, and think of ways I can help them succeed. I carefully curate each market to give vendors the best opportunity to thrive, and I’m constantly looking for ways to improve every event based on their experience.
What I’m most proud of isn’t the markets themselves—it’s the community that’s growing because of them. Seeing vendors return event after event, watching them make new connections, hearing that they had a successful day, or simply knowing they felt supported means more to me than anything else.
At the end of the day, my goal isn’t to host the biggest market in Houston. My goal is to build one of the most supportive communities for small businesses. If someone leaves one of my events feeling encouraged, inspired, and more confident in their business than when they arrived, then I’ve done my job.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about Houston is its diversity and entrepreneurial spirit. No matter where you go, you’ll find people from different backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life, all bringing something unique to the city. That diversity is reflected in our small business community, and it’s one of the reasons I love hosting markets here. Every event introduces me to talented makers, artists, bakers, creators, and business owners who are passionate about what they do. I truly believe Houston has one of the strongest communities of entrepreneurs, and it’s inspiring to watch people support one another.
If I had to choose one thing I like least, it would probably be the unpredictable weather—especially when you’re planning outdoor events! As a market coordinator, the weather is always on my mind because it can have such a big impact on attendance and on the vendors who work so hard preparing for each event. Living in Houston, you learn to expect the unexpected.
Even with the heat and the occasional surprise rainstorm, I wouldn’t want to build my business anywhere else. Houston has given me incredible opportunities, lifelong connections, and a community that continues to inspire me. I’m proud to call it home, and I’m excited to continue creating spaces where local businesses can grow and thrive.
