Today we’d like to introduce you to Priyanka Patel.
Priyanka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have grown up in hospitality. I graduated from The University Of Houston with a Marketing Degree. Straight out of college Mercedes-Benz Of Sugar Land hired me to be apart of their technology department. With zero vehicle knowledge and a passion for marketing, I took a risk and accepted the job. I suddenly went from knowing nothing about cars to knowing everything about cars. Three years and 5,000 car seminars later I was promoted to the Marketing team to work in Internet Marketing. Few months later, I was promoted again to Business Market Development. My job entails everything from internet marketing, to social media management, building local relationships, and planning events.
During all these transitions I truly figured out that it was time to put myself out there with business fashion. Working in a male dominant company (which will hopefully soon change) I always strived to stick out and be myself no matter what. I always knew I had a passion for fashion which I started to apply to my everyday work looks. And last year I finally took a leap and started PRIFESSIONAL. Where I have the privilege to showcase my passion for fashion, creativity, travel, fitness for busy working individuals, motivate, as well as talk about everyday work and business experiences.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
SO many struggles.
– Struggle finding what I truly wanted to do in “marketing”, truly what I am passionate about.
– Balancing work and my passion projects at work as well as my personal fashion/prifessional projects.
– Learning about vehicles and then learning about Mercedes when I had zero car knowledge.
– Struggle getting to the department I truly wanted to work in and then exceeding expectations and challenging myself to do MORE.
These are all struggles I love and embrace and want to show everyone that you can do anything you want. You can start in any field and fall into what you truly love! I want to use struggles/these experiences to motivate everyone.
Pri_fessional – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Marketing
Business Fashion
Lifestyle
Motivation
I think what differentiates me is the fact that I am in a male dominant company that did the unexpected. I worked hard, kept my eye on what I love and no matter what position I am in my career I enjoy it and accept it with open arms and apply all the creativity I can to my projects.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The day I learned that I am way more capable of what I thought I was my proudest moment.
I have these moments randomly and when I do I feel like I gain more confidence each time.
Winning Miss Teen India when I was 16, starting an Indian dance team (Roarin’ Raas) with some friends that ended up in Nationals multiple years, getting a job with Mercedes-Benz and working my way up, graduating from UH, loosing 30+ pounds and getting healthy again, starting prifessional and putting my passion into it, airing in commercials for Mercedes-Benz Of Sugar Land. These are all moments I look back at and “wow” myself with.
Out of all these moments in my life my proudest is when I look back at them and realize what I did. You never realize these things while you are in it….. looking back just catches me by surprise………everyone can do it if you just put your heart into it.
At the end of the day, I guess I just want to preach…. be yourself, be passionate, motivated and consistent in what you do, and be patient!
