Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Esther Spivey.
Hi Queen Esther, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began in 2015 when I decided to go from being relaxed to having natural hair (no chemicals) as I was on the journey to self care and self love.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been smooth for the most part but just as life, there will be times where you May have to pivot quickly or make corrections due to errors. This is apart of the journey to becoming better as an entrepreneur and leader in the community.
We’ve been impressed with Touched By Queen Esther, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Touched By Queen Esther formally known as “QueenSheeMee Boutique” began in 2018 during Cosmetology School. I wanted to “get back to the basics” and began experimenting with making hand whipped hair & body butters which I still craft and sell today. This was an extension of me becoming a licensed Cosmetologist in 2019 ( 8 years as a natural hair specialist) specializing in loose natural hair & locs as not many hairstylists in the NWFL Panhandle catered to these services solely for the African American Community.
What sets me apart? I not only specialize in natural hair and locs but I emphasize on individual, custom education specific to the client’s genetics, lifestyle, and wellness needs. This allows for the client to be empowered to not only take care of their own hair care needs between salon visits but to be intentional DAILY of creating space to nurture the mind, body, and spirit for a holistic lifestyle.
What I am most proud of is giving back not just to my salon clients but to the African American community in general with free natural hair consultations, education of lifestyle/wellness as this is plays an important part to healthy hair growth and length retention, along with the elevation of self confidence & self esteem of embracing black (Afro) beauty during expos, festivals, and markets during Spring through Fall. seasons.
I specialize in natural hair and locs (without the use of hair extensions/weave) as we want YOU to EMBRACE YOU. Offerings include but not limited to all natural hair & body butter/oils infused with essential oils & herbs, foaming African Black Soap for facial cleansing, 2 herbal tea blends, 3 step shampoo (clarify & hydrating shampoo), Olaplex conditioning treatments for healthy hair bond maintenance, color treatments, color removal, loc installations, loc detoxes, loc comb outs, curly haircuts, monthly subscriptions (2 or 4 visits a month) and buddy package (2 people at the same time/double booking).
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Assisting my loved ones with their entrepreneurial endeavours which lead me on my own path to becoming a black owned business owner.
