Meet Queen Ivade of Memorial

Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Ivade

Hi Queen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
From a young age, I had a natural love for anything related to styling. My journey began with fashion design, where I found joy in creating looks that allowed people to express themselves through clothing. Fashion was my first love, and for a long time, I poured my creativity into designing unique outfits that made people feel bold and confident.
However, my passion for styling extended beyond fabric. I started experimenting with hair, styling friends and family just for fun. Whether it was fronts install, wig making, braids, twists, or curls, I loved the art of hair as much as I did fashion. It became clear that hair was just another form of self-expression, much like the designs I created.
When I moved to Houston, my passion for hair grew even stronger. What started as a hobby turned into something deeper. I loved seeing the way a fresh hairstyle could light up someone’s face, just like the perfect outfit. It wasn’t long before my focus shifted from fashion to hair, and I embraced the world of hairstyling full-time.

Today, I approach every hairstyle the way I approached fashion—with creativity, care, and a desire to help people feel their best. Styling, in all its forms, is my passion, and doing hair has allowed me to combine everything I love into one craft.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a hairstylist, my journey hasn’t been without struggles. Building a client base from scratch was tough, especially transitioning from fashion design. Mastering different techniques took time, and there were moments of frustration when styles didn’t turn out as expected. Balancing the creative side with the business aspect was challenging too, managing bookings, marketing, and the constant self-doubt that comes with perfectionism . Despite these hurdles, my passion for styling has kept me going, and each challenge has made me stronger and more determined.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a hairstylist based in Houston with a deep passion for styling, originally starting my journey as a fashion designer. I specialize in creating unique, tailored hairstyles that enhance my clients’ natural beauty while offering a wide range of services, from frontal & closure installs, Sew ins, wig construction and quality raw hair bundles sales. What I’m most proud of is the connection I build with my clients, it’s not just about the hairstyle but the confidence they feel when they leave my chair.

What sets me apart is my love for all things styling, rooted in my fashion background. I bring that creative eye into every look I create, paying attention to detail and understanding how hair complements a person’s overall style. It’s my mission to make every client feel empowered, and that’s what drives me every day.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
COVID taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience. With salons closed, I had to find new ways to connect with clients, like virtual consultations. It also highlighted how hairstyling is more than just a service, it’s a way to uplift people, even in tough times. The pandemic reminded me to focus on self-care, patience, and finding creative solutions during uncertainty.
