Today we’d like to introduce you to Quimi Eaves and Sami Alaniz.
Quimi andSami, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As sisters, we began our blog as a space to share our inspirations, interests and adventures. We love telling stories, whether it’s of our own travels and experiences or someone else’s story that inspires us to grow and live for more. We felt that there was a need for authentic and encouraging content that goes beyond just aesthetically pleasing photos on an Instagram feed, so we decided to create it.
The name “Love & Tacos” describes us because we talk about what inspires us to be loving, or be fit or just be better in general, but we keep it real, we don’t take ourselves too seriously and we love to eat. Haha. Our hope is that our little space on the internet would be a source for readers to find motivation and support to be the best version of themselves. Each person has something so valuable to offer and we are passionate about seeing people use their lives to bring more good into this world. We are excited to continue growing our blog as a platform for light and love.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As in any blog, it can often be a struggle to think of new content to post. As we’ve grown and learned more, we have added in new categories and tried different types of topics to write about. We keep a lookout on which topics resonate most with our readers and try to provide more content like that. It requires patience and diligence, but as with anything, growth is always worth it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Love & Tacos – what should we know?
We believe that what sets us apart is our genuine approach to sharing our lives. As we said before, we want our blog to be a place that is inspirational for our readers, so we try to be as honest and transparent as possible. Whether we’re sharing about a personal struggle, affordable fashion, DIY home remodeling projects, an experience that changed us, a beauty product review or even a recipe that we love, our desire is for our content to be relatable.
We aren’t fancy girls with an extravagant budget, we’re just regular Mexican-Japanese girls trying to keep it real and adult. And since we are six years apart, we feel like we can provide unique perspectives from our different stages of life.
We also are musicians and singers. We get to sing and play music for so many different people on a weekly basis. Sometimes it’s a middle school chapel, other times it’s a men’s prison, other times it’s a group of moms, but with each opportunity, we find that though we are different, we are the same. We all desire to be valued, loved and filled with a purpose. Those experiences help give us reason to create more content that builds people up and reminds them of their worth.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our main supporters and mentors have been our family. Our parents and Quimi’s husband Aaron have been our number 1 fans throughout this whole blog journey. We are thankful for their constant support. Aaron is a digital marketer and has helped us build our site and everything on the technical side, and our parents read every single blog post and critique us when we need it!
