Today we’d like to introduce you to Quneque Matthews-Lyons.

Quneque Matthews-Lyons

Hi Quneque, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
One of my closest friends has been a lash tech for over four years now, which inspired me to become a lash tech, too. In September 2022, I took my class, and in October of that same year. I gave my two weeks’ notice to my job from there. I began practicing on family and friends until I got comfortable with taking regular clients. I started off in my friend’s shop, and six months later I was in my own, it has been very challenging being a mother and fiancé at the time, but I knew I had to keep going. I wanted to give up so many times I felt like I was falling… but my fiancé, who is now my husband, always kept me going.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not a smooth road at all. I had a lot of family issues going on. I was trying to be an older sibling and take care of my home as well, which was sometimes just class if I’m being honest. I’m the oldest of nine, so I depended on my siblings and my mother at times, but I kept going I didn’t stop. I introduced my duty line, which is my lip glosses. Also, in February 2024, I lost a huge supporter friend, a sister from another mother, as I will call her. But I refuse to give up because I know she’s watching over me.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Red Karpet Lashes?
I install lash extensions which consist of volume, mega volume, wispy, etc. I also sell lips scrubs and lip glosses. Starting March 2024, I will be doing lip fillers as well, so that will be added to the website in March. With my brand, we push Healthy Lashes number one. So many lash techs don’t care about the natural lashes, but here we do. I always educate my clients on their Lashes how to help them grow if a set is too much for their lashes. I will let them know beforehand.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was the oldest out of nine kids. There were five boys and four girls, to be exact. I was always the protector and still, to this day is the protector of the family. Growing up, I was a nerd/fighter, if you would say that. I love math and history. I love to cook, been loving it since a kid I will watch both of my grandmothers cooking the kitchen, and I always pay the attention.
