Meet Quynh Do of Polishe Nail Bar in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quynh Do.

Quynh, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I been working in the loop for a couple of years and had a vision of what a nail salon should be. I worked hard and saved up and started building the vision with my boyfriend at the time (husband now). We looked all over the internet and visited a few salons in Los Angeles for inspiration. Soon, we started compiling a list of everything we needed for the salon. We then drew out the layout and started placing things where they should be mentally. We were working on a budget, so we couldn’t have a professional designer to help us. Next, when we started building out the shop, we went through quite a few obstacles. There were things we didn’t account for in the budget, so we had to cut some stuff out that we originally had planned. Next, the contractor took a lot longer than we had expected, we were given 4-6 weeks for the deadline but it took 5 months. We were responsible to pay the landlord every month, since they said we were doing a renovation and they weren’t responsible to help us out with a build out since it was an existing nail salon. Any who, we eventually got the shop finished and built out, and have been building our brand and trying to provide a different experience and top notch service for our clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Construction took longer than expected and was draining our savings account. 2nd was our budget. We didn’t account for everything and we had to determine what to cut out from our shop. Employment was probably our biggest issue and it currently is. When we first started, employees don’t like to work at a new salon since there aren’t establish clients yet. It’s hard to get employees to work for you when your salon is brand new. And then the next thing with employees is it’s hard to find good employees. We like to have a certain standard at our shop in quality and customer service. It’s hard finding both of those qualities and also having to have them mesh with other employees and management. We had to take out a loan, so the first few months it was hard to juggle paying loan payments, bills, and employee’s commission since we weren’t making any money yet. However things have definitely been getting better and we have been getting more consistent clients.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Polishe Nail Bar – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Polishe Nail Bar is a nail salon but we are different from most salon. Our decor is all modern with big velvet king/queen chairs. Our shop is all white with high ceilings and it’s very bright. It’s a different vibe and we have music videos playing on tv’s in the shop. We have all disposables files, buffers and pedicure liners used only once for each client. We have near 1000 gel colors, 800 color powders, 200 dip powders, and over a thousand nail polishes. We always have the latest trends in the nail industry and do things the right way. We don’t rush our clients and give our clients the best experience we can. We are most proud with just what we are able to give to our clients as a whole. We carry the best products and don’t use cheap products. We pride ourselves on quality and customer service.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about Houston, is the diverse population we have. We can experience each other’s cultures and learn about each other. Everyone is generally nice and every culture have good food. To be able to eat any type of food is amazing. The construction and traffic is a work in progress in our city. 290 which we use daily, I wish would be finish already.
