Fly Guyz Clothing Company started in 2018 when I had a difficult time finding cute clothes for my two-year-old son. I spoke with other moms that had younger boys as well and they were having the same issues in finding a variety of clothing. When you walk into any retail clothing store, the boy’s section is extremely small with a limited footprint. The selection of boy’s clothing is treated as a hit or miss. Therefore, with my marketing and creative background, I decided to start a boy’s clothing line. I feel boys should have the opportunity and option to find trendy clothing that fit their personality, and the beginning was started Fly Guyz Clothing Company.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road as a first-time business owner; each struggle has been a learning experience. There were days I wanted to quit but I kept going because of the passion I have in building my brand and giving boys the opportunity in finding clothes they would not see in an average retail store.
When I first started this company, online sales were low and sometimes I would go months without any sales. I started evaluating and researching how to gain more traffic to my website and Instagram page. I also reviewed other small business children’s clothing lines on Social Media to see what they were doing to gain consistent traffic with customer engagement. I looked at my business model with all the information I gathered and made some adjustments to my brand to become more appealing within the children’s market. I would run marketing campaigns on my business page and my personal Instagram page. Word of mouth marketing by friends and family about Fly Guyz Clothing was an additional marketing tool to other parents with boys about my all-boys clothing company.
Another challenge for me was being consistent in marketing my brand on social media platforms. I had so many other things going on in life that I started to become inconsistent on my social media pages, which slowed the growth of my business. I learned that consistency on social media is a must! Making sure I had a schedule in place when to market on Facebook and Instagram helped drive more sales to my business. I am still learning about brand awareness and driving sales. The challenges I have faced early on have taught me how to grow my business and will always be used as a lesson learned.

Fly Guyz Clothing Company is a children’s clothing line for boys. We specialize in custom-made tees and hoodies from size newborn to kids large. Our tees are playful and trendy for kids of all backgrounds. I am most proud of the positive reviews from parents and kids telling me how much they love our clothing line. Our goal is to bring a unique style and joy to kids when they wear our clothing. Where kids can show their personality through the clothes they wear. I believe what sets us apart from other children’s clothing companies is how we focus exclusively on boy’s clothing market. Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was family trips every summer! By plane or car, my parents would take my siblings and I somewhere in the United States on a family vacation from the West Coast to the East Coast. During our vacations, we explored the city, educated ourselves on the city’s history, visit local Universities and of course, have FUN! Family time and education gave me the chance to see different lifestyles within the United States and learn about different cultures and regions that were not in our school history books. We visited over 15 different states in my childhood years and now that I’m older, I am very grateful for that experience. This is definitely a tradition I will continue with my son. I believe the best experiences in life are from traveling. It will teach you to never stop learning, get out of your comfort zone with new experiences, and learn how to adapt quickly to life changes and challenges. Traveling has highlighted my life lessons within my business today.
