Today we’d like to introduce you to Raddix.
Hi Joshua , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up listening to Rock and Roll, Country, Classic Rock and pop music. Watching CMT, and VH1 music videos in the morning as a kid really inspired me to get into music. I picked up playing guitar and singing at 8 years old. As I got older I learned to play piano, drums and even the trombone. Fast forward to my senior year of highschool, I was into music but was never really comfortable performing in front of people. I ended up at a graduation party where the DJ was doing karaoke. Everyone at a certain point was egging me on to sing a song. Well, I ended up singing and a lot of people were telling me how much they loved it.
After that, I’d get invited out by friends to go perform or do karaoke at bars when I was 17. I started producing when I was 18, and eventually found my love for songwriting and singing when I turned 21. At the age of 21 my friend, Justin Miranda, introduced me to a group of guys who’d all rap and one of them even wrote original R&B. Jay Longoria was the singer/ songwriter that eventually made me start writing my own music. He truly believed in my love and drive for pursuing music.
At this time in my life I wrote a ton of rap, R&B and pop music but I didn’t get into creating EDM until I was about 22 in 2017.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My first performances were in the basement/boiler room of a venue in San Antonio Texas with an audience of two maybe three people sometimes.
Being down there in that basement really inspired me to make a name for myself. I knew that I had potential to have my music heard by thousands or even millions. That first stage was small, but the dream was big. Along the road, I lost my best friend that got me into songwriting. He went to heaven at the age of 25 due to cancer. He inspired me to keep going and never quit making great music for the world and our community. I’ve been shot down by many potential opportunities because of the way I look, sound or even because of my gender. I understand though, this life isn’t an easy one and I don’t deserve any handouts. I want to work my hardest to get where I am and where I want to be. Life’s too short, it’s important to make everyday matter.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I sing/produce/DJ and play multiple instruments. I’m known for my unique sound in the genres of Pop, Rock and EDM. Over the years I’ve been able to fuse trap, rap, pop, rock and EDM into a sound all of its own. The Raddix brand has garnered the support of artists such as Marshmello, Flux Pavilion, Cash Cash, Krewella and tons more!
We have now toured with/opened up for numerous artists such as Trey Songz, Tyga, Chief Keef, Cazzette, Rusko, Steve Aoki, Chet Porter, etc.
The Raddix team has also been seen or published on The New York Post, Vice, BBC, Page Six, Oceanpop magazine, trillvo.com and many more.
Additionally, we’re very excited about our upcoming release and official remix of “Line ‘Em Up” with Forsyth and Dave East.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I always enjoyed car rides with my grandparents in their grand marquis. They always played oldies on the radio on those car rides. My papaw was also a big Elvis fan and had a bunch of Elvis memorabilia in his house along with a guitar and a small piano/organ that I’d play when I was little. Those were the early days when I first really started loving music.
