Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashurd Russell.
Rashurd, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Dogs have always been my “thing”. By the time I reached adulthood, I was already introduced to the world of kennels, breeding and dog business. In 2012, I researched and studied everything about Rottweilers there was to know. In addition to my previous knowledge from many years of dog experience, by the next year, my wife and I started Russell Rottweiler Ranch. Russell Rottweiler Ranch is a local family-owned breeding/kennel business. We are currently located in the Houston/Kingwood area and service all surrounding cities and states. At this time, we house more than 15 dogs ranging from young pups to rescues. Rottweilers have such a bad reputation and we have been working effortlessly to advocate for the breed, the health, and the breed standard. This is why you may catch us around the city in your local feed store working, socializing and training. Russell Ranch’s dogs can also be seen competing in AKC and IABCA conformation show rings where we have received International Championship titles and wins (points) to go towards others championship titles. We also rehome pups to their forever homes, assist in relocating rescues, and assist in educating others about the Rottweiler breed.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the toughest times we have had was losing litters of puppies. 10-12 puppies at a time. It makes you study and do research. I have to know how and why? What can I do better? There is always something to learn. Another time we experienced “water toxicity”. Turns out too much water is very dangerous for puppies. Never did that again.

What you should know about us is we pride ourselves in the work that we do. Its not easy work. We breed for show quality pets. A dog that can compete in the ring with other champion dogs and win, protect your house and kids at night, and roll over for belly rubs. We want customers to get the best of all worlds.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My open-door policy has contributed most to my success. I help and help and help fellow rottweilers and other dog enthusiasts. Any day or night, im available to help. By making sure we all have the knowledge, we all work together to better the breed and break those stigmas.
