Hi Raven, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a birth doula of 8 years, working with mothers from Atlanta to Houston. My first birth happened by unexpected occurrence when a close associate went into labor in our presence. Being in my position to guide her through contractions and eventually delivery was instinctual, first nature— even though I had no professional training or knowledge. Relying on my own first birth experience that was 7 months prior. I remembered key positions and encouragement tools to provide a safe birth for mother and baby. Even post partum care felt ancestral to be present for a sister in this vital stage. My role in this specific birth led me to my passion of becoming more educated and a certified professional in the field of birth work.
I’ve attended water births, home births, birth centers with midwives and hospital births with medical professionals. As well as having an intentional unassisted, unmedicated birth of my own in 2021. I feel called to be apart of women birthing babies and being of service to them during their pregnancy journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say challenges more so, which shapes multiples aspects to achievements. Challenges are needed. We adapt and adjust, which is exactly what I did having to move from Atlanta to Houston— I’m a native Houstonian, it’s been a decade since I’ve relocated — getting reacquainted with my city and establishing myself within my community was priority to get back on path after pick up.

I am a birth and delivery doula. Assisting women in pregnancy until birth. Teaching proactive measures spiritually and physically to carry out their birth desires and ultimately a safe birth. I specialize in prenatal yoga and known for going beyond in providing attentive care for my clients, customizing my care to their lifestyle while ensuring my practicing values are implemented as well. I’m known for teaching habits to utilize from pregnancy into postpartum to provide lessened chances of post partum depression. I’m most proud of accelerating my clients hospital labor from 3cm to 8 cm in 6 hours. As birthworker, I’m big on the mothers allowing their heighten intuition to guide them, if my spirit sets me apart from others that’s essentially only determined by that mother not me.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck is nice. My belief is alignment, whether good or bad, it’s all a learning experience to grow from.
