Meet Raymond Flores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond Flores.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Raymond. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Yeah so I pretty much just make music and draw a lot in my free time. I’ve loved music for as long as i can remember. I didn’t get into actually making music though until after I graduated high school. I started making beats from a cracked FL studio file my friend Jason sent me on my mom’s laptop. My beats were terrible at first but like with anything, the more you do it the better you get. I kept going and eventually a little bit of people started to pay attention.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think being an “artist” is ever an easy path for anyone. You have to be vulnerable and work really hard in order to be able to make things you can look back on and be proud of. Some days I wake up and feel useless. Other days I feel invincible. If I go a few days without making something that excites me, I feel like I’m not good enough and I beat myself up about it. I don’t really know how to play instruments that well yet, so the majority of the time I just mess around for hours until I make something cool and just go from there. It’s never really an easy process, but the journey is very rewarding so I enjoy it.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Right now I’m just focused on progressing. I wanna be the greatest version of myself, and that takes time. I have a handful of songs and ideas that I really like. I just need to sit down and complete them. I do everything on my own and in my bedroom so it’s not always easy finishing stuff.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think just being curious and staying focused has helped me the most so far. I try to push myself more and more the older I get. Also setting goals for yourself is really important. The little things I’ve managed to do so far were at one point written on my notes app as goals. I have so many more of them. I’m also very specific when I do things. You just have to care and execute!
