Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Young.
Rebecca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began personal training in Killeen, Texas in 2005. There I trained myself for NPC body competitions, which taught me how to manipulate muscle tissue and adipose tissue with diet and exercise. After moving to Houston in 2008, I continued my career working for corporate gyms and training for physique competitions when out of the blue I suffered 2 strokes and was diagnosed with an arterial disease. This began a path to healing for me, that taught me the truth about the effect stress has on the mind and body, as well as how to relieve it. It was 2009 when I created the Rejuvenation program and set out on my own in a humble little studio with a heart’s desire to share all of my knowledge. 2012 brought Lizette Mendoza into my life and together we expanded to the magical training studio where you can now find us. Together we turned a rundown storefront into Breathe Physical Fitness where we run sweat wrenching, mentally challenging classes that transform the lives of our clients.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening and maintaining Breathe has been an interesting journey. There are moments when I feel like I am bursting with happiness and ones where I have wanted to crawl into a cave and hide. Ups and downs are a part of it, we do our best to focus on the goal, assisting our community. Sure, we struggle, as 2 females still running a business completely out of pocket, and typically people go for commercial before local. I believe that is changing and people are beginning to understand the importance of spending their hard-earned money at honest home town businesses.
Breathe Physical Fitness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Breathe is a Personal Training facility focused on assisting in creating with our client, the most balanced state of being for their lifestyle. What does that mean? We cover aspects of your life, starting with your posture and level of toxicity in your body. If you desire, we Rejuvenate your body through juicing and raw foods, create a schedule for resistance training and cardiovascular work, all the while alleviating any aches and pains with myofascial release or Reiki energy recovery. Each personal session is complete with home sessions or video conference sessions to ensure you are cared for on vacation or when you cannot make it in to the gym. We will even come over and help you through the cooking process in meal prep. We also offer our Crew classes as a more affordable and still quality option. Capping our classes at 6 members we ensure each person receives individual attention, adjustments, and instructions. Additionally, the class meets once a month to update meal plans and Q&A over any health-related topics. We also offer sober family friendly events throughout each month. I believe what sets apart is our full spectrum stance on fitness and lifestyle. We encourage children to join the parent in the workout, offer family training packages, and create a relaxed, educational environment for healthy growth and play.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We believe success lives inside of each client. With every smile, each conquered goal, and moment of understanding how to control and communicate with their body, we see success.
