Meet Regan Jurick of The Woodlands Dance Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regan Jurick.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started dancing at age 2 in a dance studio, that became my second home. Growing up in such empowering environment allowed me to become a confident child and overcome insecurities that everyone faces growing up. This confidence helped with securing a leadership role on my high school dance team, which led me to continue my dance education at Texas Christian University, performing with the TCU Showgirls and graduating with a BFA in Modern Dance with an emphasis in ballet.  I worked as an instructor, judge and choreographer for MA Dance teaching students all over the continental United States and Hawaii. Still yearning for more dance education, I moved to New York City and studied dance at The Broadway Dance Center and STEPS on Broadway. I danced in Houston on Janet Jackson’s Velvet Rope Tour, performed with Contemporary Dance Fort Worth and Sparacino Company Dancers and worked as a stand in for Christina Milian in Man of the House. I then continued my career as a high school drill team director and at numerous studios in the Houston area. In 2003, I began working for The Woodlands Dance Force, eventually taking over the studio in 2006.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life has definitely taken me on different paths, and the road has not always been smooth, yet growth comes when you adapt to the changing environment. This has led to constantly staying creative, and having faith in a great studio family.

The Woodlands Dance Center – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Woodlands Dance Center is a dance studio specializing in all styles of dance, providing a home for any level of dancer. I am most proud of creating a space where anyone yearning to dance can come fulfill their passion. If you are walking you can start classes, and you are never too old to stop.

We differ from other studios because we focus on the individual journey of each dancer, providing a heathy balance and strong dance foundations to use in any path they take in life.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Anytime I watch a child dance on stage and see their confidence growing and hard work paying off. I beam with pride.
