Worked in private sector at CES Performance training all sport athletes in strength and conditioning (2012-2015). Returned to College football coaching at Prairie View A&M University (2015-2017). Created my apparel line FIYT (pronounced fight) which stands for Faith In Your Testimony. Currently working in private sector training athletes looking for a return to coaching. Basically love football, mentoring young men, and doing Gods work

Has it been a smooth road?
Constant obstacles from overcoming injuries prior to my HS All-Star game and in college, being a free-agent entering into the NFL, getting cut on multiple occasions and battling back with ultimately injuries ended my career. Missing out on playing professional baseball due to circumstances and choices. Coaching has been full of ups and downs from getting fired at my alma mater UCLA, being without a job opportunity, to not being retained by a new staff at Prairie View A&M, to being out of my passion which is coaching. Upstarting a new business venture in clothing which is trial and era. Basically battling as an underdog throughout my life.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business works primarily with football skill position players, but also any sport athlete dedicated to pursue an opportunity to be the best they can be. It encompasses the pro/college/high school/middle school age athletes mainly. I specialize in developing football fundamentals (route running, ball skills, position-specific drills, footwork, conditioning), as well as mentoring and spiritual development as it pertains to sports. I also work on body mechanics and speed, agility, and strength that transfers specifically to the sport. What sets me apart is my dad was a professional football player with the Houston Oilers (1967-78) and exposed me to an elite level of athletes at a very early age. I learned the game, worked out and trained with All-Pro professional athletes early in my life. So I have that valuable experience. I was also a drafted professional baseball player (Texas Rangers 1990 Rd 44) so I have been exposed to being a two-sport professional elite athlete as well. I also have invaluable high school, college, and pro coaching experience that spans 20 years. From that vantage point, I can give guidance from everything such as the recruiting process, to the keys of being a professional athlete. What I am most proud of as a company is I have developed the athlete that was either an undrafted pro, or guy that had a slim chance to make it, and given him an opportunity to live a dream, For the young athlete it is watching him progress, and mature. I am also proud of the fact that I get to develop the spiritual and mental side of the development in the athlete due to my faith and failure experiences. My second business is a faith-based gear and apparel company called FIYT (fight) Gear and apparel. Stands for Faith= walk by it, Integrity= live by it, Yourself=respect and love, and Testimony= share it. Faith In Your Testimony because we all have a life testimony that may be beneficial to someone else’s well being or healing.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel Houston is an excellent place for a business such as mine because Houston has always been a place with a large number of athletes as long as I can remember. The population continues to boom, so it multiplies the opportunity even more. I would recommend anyone to start here, with the understanding that with growth is competition from other businesses. I do feel there is room for everyone to succeed. You just have to find your target market and make sure you are providing a reliable, safe, quality product.
