Today we’d like to introduce you to Rekita King.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rekita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up watching my dad surprised my mom with ‘just because’ roses and it wasn’t out of the ordinary for him to pull up inside a limo on a regular weeknight. My mom would always smile from ear to ear and then run into his arms. No matter how big or little the gift was she exploded with the same gratitude. I watched my mom take detours on her way home from work to pick up my dad’s favorite desserts or spend hours in a thrift store to find him the perfect record to add to his collection. I didn’t know it at the time but they were shaping my idea of what it meant to be married. I thought that’s how all marriages were; the giving and receiving of unconditional love, gifts, and date nights…lots of date nights.
Fast forward to my adulthood. I discovered that is NOT how all relationships/marriages are. As my parents’ 25th year anniversary approached, my younger sister and I decided to throw our parents a surprise vow renewal. It was special because when they got married only my dad’s best friend was able to attend. That was the very first event I ever planned. It was hectic and stressful and wonderful all at the same time. Before I even finished the decor I knew I was going to be designing and coordinating for the rest of my life.
At the reception, I stole a quiet moment with my father and asked, ‘how had they made their marriage last?’ He told me he never stopped dating my mom. A light bulb went off, and thus Keevents Concierge began to form.
Keevents Concierge was officially launched on January 1, 2018. We are an Event firm specializing in Romantic Events. We also offer Romantic Concierge Services on a per diem and membership basis. We take pride in helping our clients build a marriage as beautiful as their wedding.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
On the road to success, I’ve found that challenges come with the territory. I would say my biggest challenge thus far has been breaking into an industry where there are already so many other amazingly talented entrepreneurs. It was important to me to carve out my own lane and do something that I had never seen.
Our Concierge service afforded me that opportunity. When I started, no one was really offering a service like it. There are so many men and women who wish they had the time or expertise to craft a date night on a Tuesday. We offer the luxury of time to our clients. We take on the details and they just show up and enjoy one another.
Another challenge has been getting out of my own way. I am my biggest critic, a characteristic that can cripple your business if you are not careful. Overthinking ideas and nitpicking photos never made anyone any money or got them any closer to their goals. I have learned to be scared and do IT anyway. Whatever IT may be.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Keevents Concierge – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Keevents Concierge we believe lasting relationships don’t just happen, they are built through intentional action and fortitude.
Our mission in romance is less about roses and fancy dinners ( although those are apart of the equation) and more about intimacy and communication. We help our couples build habits and learn techniques to celebrate their relationships in good times and to work through the bad.
Through our Romantic Event Planning and Concierge Services, we like to think of ourselves as the KEY to our couples’ “Happily Every Afters”.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Keevents Concierge a few major projects and collaborations in the works. Most of them cannot be discussed yet but keep an eye on our social media platforms.
One big announcement that we are excited about and CAN discuss is our 2020 Couples Retreat. We are taking 10 (yup that’s it) couples on a getaway where they will relax, recharge, and rededicate themselves to one another.
