Today we’d like to introduce you to Renald Stettler.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was a busy executive in Manhattan when one day, while flying from London to NYC on the Concorde eating caviar and drinking champagne, I felt unfulfilled and had the need to do something that better expressed my gifts and interests. I wanted to use my country upbringing and knowledge of food to help stressed out executives maintain some semblance of health. I quit my job, packed my things and moved the family to San Diego where I opened my own stress management center. It was a wellness concept where several holistic services were available under the same roof. This synergistic healing modality concept was well received and afforded corporate executives a chance to disconnect from their everyday stresses, at least for the time they spent at the wellness center. Very popular at the time were our unique flotation tanks, where people could spend an hour floating in 1000 pounds of Epsom salts in a sound and light proof isolation tank, where all the stresses of the daily world could be forgotten. Along the way, I got my education in Naturopathy, holistic health, nutrition, yoga and other modalities in order to be a knowledgeable, understanding and well rounded holistic Naturopath. Life changes brought me to Houston where I wanted to continue on my path to help people understand that their lifestyle choices and nutrition will largely determine their level of health and vital energy.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road is always paved with some speed bumps, especially when it comes to trying to help someone change their diet and lifestyle habits. Habits are with all of us, but making good habits out of bad ones is as simple as making a decision. The decision to change someone’s lifestyle is not an easy one, and many people give up before they even give themselves a chance to see improvements. That is a huge obstacle, because it means people have to make changes to what has been familiar in order to see different results.
Most people have a resistance to change, and making changes is not always comfortable.
By taking personal responsibility and making positive changes, a person will achieve new goals not imagined before. That is where I come in, educating and encouraging you to become the healthy and energetic being you are meant to be.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Quantum Wellness Houston story. Tell us more about the business.
As a Naturopath, I listen to people’s issues, both from a physical health point of view and also lifestyle point of view. I go over many aspects of one’s lifestyle in order to ascertain what may be the cause of someone’s ill feeling or health problems. We go over health history, diet and nutrition, identify problem areas, and discuss exercise and sleep, and all lifestyle issues that concern physical and mental health. I see lots of people who have been frustrated by long term stubborn health issues and want to get to the core of what ails them. That’s where the muscle testing analyses comes in, a system that allows me to use differentials in finger pressure to find out whether organs or systems in the body are in balance and functioning properly. Sometimes health solutions are as simple as adding HCL with meals to alleviate gas and constipation, or sometimes one need to do some mud packs to help in detoxifying certain organs like the liver or kidneys. In my practice, I do not use synthetic vitamins, I use live sourced herbs that have been formulated and encapsulated for specific health issues. If I do recommend vitamins, they are whole food based, not chemical based like 95% of the nutritional supplements available. I also use a sophisticated biofeedback machine that looks at thousands of potentials in the body to identify areas of concern and then feeds back an impulse to stimulate the body to facilitate healing. Overall, I use both ancient therapies and modern machines to help my clients get a grip on their health and take responsibility for their well being going forward.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The holistic health world keeps getting bigger, yet there are governmental forces that keep trying to interfere on behalf of big pharma. Our supplements are constantly under pressure for removal from the market, and we are limited in how and what we discuss with our clients. The established western medical system and certain governmental agencies are busy trying to eliminate any competition to their allopathic model. People, however, are demanding alternative choices and a naturopath provides that choice.
