Today we’d like to introduce you to Reuben Askew.
Hi Reuben, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well, I got shot with an AK 47 when I was 22 basically had to find out how to make money with my hands because I got a rod in my left leg and nerve damage in my right leg so learning how to cut hair was my only option. I’ve been cutting for 15 years now and since Covid started, I created a mobile barbershop and I got certified for scalp micro-pigmentation so I will be the 1st barber to ever do SMP in a mobile bus.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s always been a struggle but that’s what I’m used to because everything I do, I have to do it without my disability affecting me. And when Covid hit and they shut the barbershops down I had to come up with a better plan so then came my mobile shuttle bus.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I am a mobile barber/smp specialist/actor. I specialize in changing people’s life. I’m proud of overcoming getting shot because it can be a blessing or a curse. So it is what u make it only the strong survives. I’m proud of the few acting gigs I did like (day 2 day) next movie is called Wes Diego be on the lookout. What sets me apart from others is I’m making everything happen while still dealing with my disability.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
