Meet Ryan Ricca of Ricca Boot Shop in Tomball

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Ricca.

Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started hanging out in my grandfather’s boot repair shop after school as a young child, I found myself always wanting to help out and just be around my grandpa. I Learned by watching him. Sometimes when the work was done I would dig out old boots in the back and ‘Frankenstein’ them together into weird creations, or find scrap leather and create my own footwear. My grandpa asked if I had ever thought about making boots. So after college I went and learned boot making from a great boot maker out of Coleman TX., Tex Robins.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part. My Grandparents had a really great clientele built up from 30+ years of hard work, and everyone loved them so much, the hardest part was just the pressure of filling such big shoes after he passed.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ricca Boot Shop – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are primarily a custom boot and shoe shop. We measure your feet and build the whole boot or shoe from the ground up based on your specific measurements. I like all styles of boots and shoes, the more detailed and wild they are, the more I enjoy them. Wild is not for everyone and I do enjoy the simplicity of a classy and elegant dress boot. We still take in some repair work, such as re soling boots/shoes but now that my backlog is almost a year now I am having to limit it some. The thing that I am most proud of is that we have stayed a family business. My wife and I run the shop now just like my grandparents used to, and my grandma still pops in from time to time. We have a 10 year old son who also helps out when not at school or playing soccer.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love all the culture, the diversity of shops, the markets on the weekends and mostly the FOOD! I guess traffic would be the only downside, Hahaha.
