Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Bonton.
Richard, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from CE King High School and later received a degree in Banking & Finance from Sam Houston State University. I worked as an accounting consulting in the Middle East for several years before returning to the United States to get married and start a family. I now run a transportation logistics firm and a nonprofit. I am married with two children.
I became more active in politics a few years ago and have seen great community impact. I ran for State Representative District 142 in 2018 and had a great time meeting voters.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been smooth but there have been many beneficial lessons. The biggest struggle was finding my voice in community work and using my talents in the best way. My nonprofit allowed me to do just that.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Spirit Group Logistics is a transportation logistics firm that serves educational and corporate entities to achieve their transportation needs.
We are most proud in helping students have the most productive educational experience by getting them to and from school in the safest manner.
Our company prides ourself on being efficient, professional, and minority-owned.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always very focused on achieving my goals and tasks. That mindset has remained as an adult. I love playing sports and reading books as a child.:

I am proud of you Richard. I’ve known you almost 25 years. Your parents were my neighbors & I have always felt connected to you all. You literally carried me on your back to safety during Hurricane Allison & I’ll never forget it. Your parents came to my home often, especially after my husband of 45 years transitioned in 2012. I have a photo of you & he together. You & John
shared many memories. We’re still connected in many ways. Please don’t forget our latest conversation. You & your mom will make Houston a better place & I will be supportive.. Never forget where you grew up ♥️☝🏽
