Meet Richard Saad of Nick’s Plumbing & Sewer Services in The Houston Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Saad.

Richard, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It was by chance that I got involved at Nick’s Plumbing. My career started in the financial/technical arena. Long story short at 29 years old, I decided to go the unemployed route. I was tired of the corporate world but at the same time was looking to go a different direction within corporate. A friend of a friend told me about this plumbing company, and the owner was looking forward to retirement. I started thinking about it, did tons of research and then before I knew it, I had bought the business. I really don’t recommend doing it that way.

Has it been a smooth road?
The plumbing industry has so many moving parts and involves so much manpower that it will challenge you daily. If you take your eye off the ball for just one day, it could mean a disaster on your month-end Profit & Loss statement.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nick’s Plumbing & Sewer Services story. Tell us more about the business.
Nick’s Plumbing is a family owned business that is all about family. Being in the service industry, specifically plumbing, it is a 24/7 venture. When your main water supply line or water heater decides to break it breaks, and we must respond. I always try to manage our technician’s time at work to make sure they have enough time with family and at home. I want them well rested so that when they come to your home their demeanor, attitude and aptitude reflects the benefit of that balance.
