Meet Richard Shubin of Blazing Bins in Woodland, Spring, Tomball, Magnolia and Conroe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Shubin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Richard. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After serving in the army for 16 years with multiple tours we decided to make Spring our home. We have lived here for seven years and have always dreamed of owning our own business. I consider myself a clean freak and enjoy seeing results pressure washing and cleaning trash cans has proven to be a challenge, we love the instant gratification. We designed our logo and decided to name the trash bin cleaning company Blazing bins for a few reasons, when we clean the cans they are BLAZING hot we use 180-degree water to clean and sanitize the cans. The temperatures in Texas, Houston to be more specific are blazing so we decided the name was fitting. We have a child who gets sick often and though I take pride in keeping a clean home, this has not been enough to keep him healthy.

After doing some research we discovered trash cans are the perfect breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. This lead to trash can cleaning which STINKS literally and figuratively. It was the MOST dreaded chore ever using a water hose and getting splashed in the face. We would like to tell you that this was our idea, but it was not. We have family in Victoria, Texas they own South Texas Beaming Bins long before the business took off we knew this was for us. We immediately started planning our logo and design. We knew people need this service and we were the perfect family to bring it to Houston.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Struggles along the way, whew. I would say our biggest challenge at this time is we both work full-time jobs. We wanted this and know that this is a must have, needed service but couldn’t afford to quit our day jobs just yet. We both work five days a week then head home to clean cans, respond to questions and schedule new customers. This has had its challenges, for example he generally gets changed and is on the road at 4pm this is the prime time for Houston traffic which is NOT fun, but it has helped us ensure that when we arrive the trash has already been removed, the winter months can also be a challenge when it gets dark at 5:30pm it can be difficult to see.  Educating in general has also been a challenge people have no idea this service is available or why it is so important.

Then there are the late nights, the never-ending questions, the marketing, the truck maintenance, owning a business is a full-time job. We take pride in our name, brand and reputation and work hard to ensure we are building a name and a brand people can trust this takes time and effort, I would say our biggest challenge has been balancing it all between the kids (we have two boys who are very active in baseball, karate, school, and church) We take it one day at a time and always look for the good, we know summer and longer days are coming. We know that if we keep giving the business our best it will take off with time becoming a full-time job. We know Houston traffic isn’t going anywhere but snacks make life better 🙂

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Blazing Bins story. Tell us more about the business.
We clean, sanitize and deodorize trash cans, pressure wash driveways, sidewalks, patios and more. Our truck is designed to lift the cans and two rotating heads shoot out the water to give the cans a good steamy bath. The water is 180 degrees, so the cans are steaming hot! We clean inside and outside, we have several different tools we use if the cans have buildup and need some extra love. We take pride in getting them like new again. We use ecofriendly, biodegradable degreaser and deodorizer/ sanitizer. The deodorizer smells amazing and will make your garage smell great! We can carry 525 gallons of water with us we fill our truck often with CLEAN water we do not reuse or recycle the water (this is unique). After we clean the cans the water is collected in a separate tank -meaning your yard is not holding the nasty water for your kids to track through your home! We take the water with us and dispose of it properly. We are veteran owned and operated and look forward to hiring additional vets in the future. Another cool feature, we send a reminder text message the day before we come to clean the cans, and we put the cans wherever specified. We offer competitive pricing and go above and beyond to ensure our customers love their clean cans and the entire experience. We let the kids check out the truck, and help lift the cans, we do giveaways. We support our schools and churches and often donate gift certificates for raffles. We offer a veteran discount to fellow Veterans. We support and promote other local business in our area. We take pride in doing whatever we’re doing and doing it well even if it is only cleaning trash cans, we are mindful and considerate of others as well, we genuinely care about the services we provide and focus on customer service, we know the customers have a choice, and we want to be their number one choice.
