Meet Rickey Carter of Carter Cutz in West University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rickey Carter.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rickey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I successfully completed barber college March 2017 within 10 months. A few months later, I had the opportunity to cut recording artist Lil Boosie. A few months later after the hurricane, I cut hair at George R. Brown convention center. It touched me being able to put smiles on the faces of those that lost everything. After that, I won an award for top ten barbers in Houston 40 under 40. I plan on opening a shop very soon.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the struggles involve being a first-time entrepreneur and building the business from the ground up. It’s all a lesson at the end of the day and that is what contributes to my growth.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Carter Cutz – what should we know?
Plain and simple, “I don’t sell haircuts, I sell CONFIDENCE “. I pride myself on putting smiles on people’s faces.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The creator, father, mother, family. Ronnie Coleman Jr., Darrell Dortch, Anthony Harrison. Steve Watson and a host of other supporters. All have mentored me and given me advice or guidance at some point on this journey.
