Hi Robert, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
With over two dozen misdemeanors and a handful of felonies, I was able to transform my life into an entrepreneur, mentor, and mental health peer specialist who has made it my mission to help others rise above their struggles.
Growing up, I found myself making a plethora of mistakes that led to multiple misdemeanors, felonies, and even a federal conviction. When I was released I found out that finding a job and housing wasn’t easy—most employers and apartment complexes wouldn’t give me a chance.
I quickly realized that Instead of waiting around for an opportunity that might never come or investing years of my life trying to work for a company that was going to pay me pennies on the dollar, I decided to bet on myself and put forth the effort and energy into creating my own lane.
In August of 2025, I became the founder of XLR8 Pressure Washing Services LLC, I built a thriving business from the ground up despite facing major challenges after my incarceration. My story speaks to the masses of all generations and ethnicities about determination, faith, and never giving up, no matter how many obstacles stand in the way.
As you can see the impact that I’m having goes even beyond business. My true passion is about helping other people who’ve been through what I have and giving them a hand up. As a Mental Health Peer Specialist, I supports those struggling with mental health challenges, especially individuals coming out of the criminal justice system. Also as a Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) mentor, my goal is to help veterans navigate the complexities of the system and get to the other side and regain their freedom. On top of that, as a Credible Messenger in District B, working to help at-risk youth and adults break negative cycles and build a better future.
My book, “From Pen 2 Pro: From the Shadows of Incarceration to Entrepreneurial Success,” tells my story in the rawest format possible in honest detail. I want people to know that your past doesn’t have to control your future—with the right mindset, hard work, and faith, you can turn your life around.
Currently I’m focused on growing my business, mentoring others, and pushing for more second-chance employment opportunities. My goal is to show people that no matter where they come from, success is possible if they’re willing to work for it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. It Definitely has not been smooth sailing. In the beginning the struggles were trying to find employment. The struggles now are trying to secure the contract award. Either way, in life your going to be faced with some sort of struggle. It up to the person to find ways to navigate and overcome the struggles we face in life to achieve the desired life we want for ourselves and family.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Here is are some practical steps I have taken to improve my business as well as my quality of life and I want to encourage others to implement these steps to achieving the desired life they always wanted yourself. Trust me, If implemented correctly, a change will come!
1. Take Responsibility for Your Life No matter your past, you have the power to create a better future. Your mistakes don’t define you—your actions moving forward do. Take ownership of your decisions and be proactive in making positive changes.
2. Believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to fail Everyone has the potential for greatness. Never let setbacks or past mistakes hold you back, it’s part of the process. Whether it’s starting a business, getting a job, or pursuing your passion, believe that achieving your dreams are possible, and don’t be afraid when things don’t happen as fast as you would like. From the time you plant a seed into the ground until it blossom takes time. So remember with proper planning and consistency in nurturing your passion, eventually thing will begin to elevate.
