Today we’d like to introduce you to Robson Da Silva
Hi Robson, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I, Robson Silva, through the company where I work as an Electrical Engineer, was transferred to the United States in December 2016. Having always been deeply involved in soccer in Brazil, I sought ways to stay connected to the sport. After Hurricane Harvey in 2017, together with friends, I founded an indoor soccer group called Amigos da Bola, which continues to this day.
As part of this group, I organized quarterly barbecues for players and their families, fostering community bonding and social connections. These gatherings helped ease the sense of distance from loved ones, as many of us had left our families behind to embark on a new chapter in life.
In Brazil, barbecues are often accompanied by Samba music, an essential part of our culture. Inspired by this tradition, I acquired percussion instruments and introduced live Samba music to one of our gatherings. The joy, enthusiasm, and excitement it brought to the guests were remarkable. This experience inspired me to create a Brazilian cultural event for the community, which became known as Houston Roda de Samba in 2019. The event aimed to bring together Brazilians in a family-friendly environment, offering authentic food, music, and cultural experiences.
That same year, we successfully hosted four editions of the event, each one growing in attendance, quality, and infrastructure.
However, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought uncertainty and forced us to pause all events.
Expansion and the Birth of RS Productions
As soon as it became possible to resume event planning, new brands and experiences were introduced in 2021 and 2022, including Houston Roda de Samba, Houston Country Fest, Pé na Areia, Brazilian Halloween, and CarnaHouston. To better manage and promote these events, I founded RS Productions, bringing all these brands under one umbrella.
The diverse nature of these events reflects my commitment to engaging the entire Brazilian community while also embracing cultural diversity.
RS Productions: A Benchmark for Brazilian Entertainment in Houston
With a strong reputation for high-quality events, RS Productions quickly became a leading name in Brazilian entertainment in Houston. In addition to hosting local U.S.-based bands, we have had the honor of working with renowned Brazilian artists, including Claudia Leitte, Turma do Pagode, Nando Reis, and stand-up comedian Fábio Rabin.
Each event has brought unique challenges and learning experiences, contributing to the growth and evolution of RS Productions as a company.
Vision for 2025
Looking ahead, RS Productions aims to elevate its events to even greater heights. Our primary goal is to expand our reach beyond the Brazilian community, attracting Latin and American audiences and immersing them in Brazil’s rich and vibrant culture through exceptional musical attractions and unique experiences.
Our next event will be a major milestone for RS Productions, showcasing our full potential. CarnaHouston, a Brazilian Carnival celebration, will take place on March 29, featuring multiple attractions and an unforgettable experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has not been easy, and it still isn’t. I had never organized events before, so everything I have learned has been through hands-on experience, which has made the path even more challenging.
The event initially started simply as a way to bring friends together, with no formal structure such as social media or a website. Over time, all of this was developed, along with valuable learning in marketing and how to deliver the best possible experience for our audience.
Events must always embrace innovation and diverse attractions, while also facing the challenge of ensuring strong attendance at each edition.
The biggest challenge today is building audience loyalty while attracting new cultures to the event, expanding its reach and impact.
