Today we’d like to introduce you to Roelandia Domingue.
Roelandia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, my passion for design was sparked as a kid, spending entire summer days and nights—sometimes until 5 a.m.—playing a popular computer game. While the game focused on building families, I was most drawn to designing their homes to support their needs and aspirations. It was my first glimpse of how design shapes the way we live and feel.
I’ve always been a creative at heart, with a deep love for the arts—singing, songwriting, painting, crafting, photography, and even audio engineering. Growing up in a musical family, I had the chance to record and produce songs, shoot portraits with professional cameras, and often stepped in front of the lens myself. Still, it wasn’t until college that I truly found my niche.
I started out majoring in general business with plans to pursue real estate, but it didn’t feel creative enough. By sophomore year, I decided to fully chase my dreams and moved away to study interior design. Five years later, I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Sam Houston State University in 2019 and began my corporate design career. But I always felt called to create more personal, meaningful spaces—so I launched my own firm, Domingue Interior Design, that same year. We’ve been proudly serving clients across Houston and surrounding areas ever since.
Today, I’m a multi-passionate entrepreneur balancing motherhood, a full-time corporate role, my design firm, and Her & Me Bloom—a new community for thriving mothers to connect and evolve.
Across it all, my mission is simple: to design spaces and moments that support people as they grow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been far from smooth. During my senior year of college, I faced life-threatening health complications after giving birth to my daughter at age 22. Temporarily wheelchair-bound, I had to leave school and move back home for medical care and family support. Recovery was tough and exhausting, with weeks spent in the ICU and months of physical rehabilitation—relearning basic tasks like walking and even feeding myself.
When I was finally able to return to school, it meant commuting three hours roundtrip, five days a week, with my daughter often by my side. It was one of the most physically and emotionally demanding seasons of my life, and there were many moments I questioned if I would ever step fully into my purpose. But I was determined to show my daughter what resilience and persistence look like, even when your dreams feel out of reach.
That season tested my faith and taught me patience, discipline, and the power of never giving up. It also shaped how I approach design. I understand how spaces can support healing and well-being, both physically and mentally. My experience also showed me that motherhood and ambition can coexist and that dreams don’t have to be set aside.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Domingue Interior Design and Her & Me Bloom?
Domingue Interior Design is a Houston-based firm offering full-service residential and commercial design, as well as virtual support for clients who want expert guidance while managing their own timelines. My personal design style is often what draws clients in: a modern, chic aesthetic balanced with warm textures to make spaces feel luxurious but still livable.
I’m known for my versatility within the design industry, whether creating cozy minimalist spaces or bold, glamorous ones to reflect a client’s personal style or project aesthetics. A good portion of my work has been with new construction developments, designing urban townhomes and staging model homes for new communities.
What sets us apart is the dedication and passion we pour into every phase. Each client can rely on strong project management, a streamlined process, and a focus on creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional and purposeful. We’re also experts at finding creative, budget-friendly solutions without compromising on style or quality—because who doesn’t want more bang for their buck?
In 2021, I expanded the brand with a luxury décor collection of high-quality indoor and outdoor accent pillows. These pieces are carefully curated to complement any style and add texture, color, and personality to every space. Our affordable online boutique offers pickup and local delivery for added convenience.
I’m most proud of building a trusted brand that puts people first and brings every layer of design together. This same spirit led me to create Her & Me Bloom, a growing community for creative, busy, and introverted moms. Our mission there is to offer a space of connection, inspiration, and support—reminding moms that there’s power in navigating motherhood their own way.
What’s next?
Right now, I’m expanding my home décor line and preparing to release my first few design e-books. One is a practical guide for DIY decorators and aspiring designers who want to make expert decisions without costly mistakes. The second shares my approach to designing new construction concepts for large-scale communities, including the strategies I use to bring those visions to life.
I’m also in the process of refreshing my firm’s brand identity, which is huge. This is the first public announcement that Domingue Interior Design will soon transition to ROE Interior Design—a name that reflects the deeper purpose and passion I’ve found through faith.
At the same time, I’m continuing to grow Her & Me Bloom with the vision of it becoming a place where mothers can turn to for everything—even help meeting basic needs. As part of that mission, I’m writing a book that shares my personal life story in depth to inspire other mothers on their journey to triumph. My creative 8-year-old is also bringing her talents to the community with a children’s coloring book inspired by her love for arts and crafts.
As I’ve said before, whether I’m designing spaces or building community, my purpose remains the same: to help others feel grounded, uplifted, and empowered in both their space and season.
