Meet Ronan Sanchez of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronan Sanchez

Hi Ronan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We’re Happier Than You! We formed in early 2019, just starting out as Alex Stevens and Ronan Sanchez, when we met in middle school after I had transferred there. We met after I had transferred there in the middle of the year, and Alex had quickly helped me get used to my surroundings, and we bonded over our love for the grunge band Nirvana. We began hanging out, and Alex made it apparent how much he loved music and playing music. So he taught me how to play guitar, and we formed “Celsius”. We never released any music, and the music we did write was pretty bad. Over the next 5 years, we wrote a lot of songs, and started trying to get shows- eventually landing our first show in 2024, at Acadia, with Figure Below! From there on, we’ve released music online, played dozens of shows, and gotten a new member, Allen Almazan! We’re super excited to show everyone what we’ve been cooking up, we’re just getting started!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Fortunately, Alex Stevens and I, Ronan Sanchez, formed this band based on our friendship chemistry with each other. So as far as interpersonal relationships go, its been good! Of course though, life always has its hardships, we always try and spin it in the best way possible. Without struggles of anxiety in relationships I don’t think we’d ever have written Splinters, or without the addiction struggles we’d never have written Untitled 3. So its best to always be grateful, when you can of course.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re all pretty young still, so we’re just getting started, but we’re all working super hard! Alex Stevens is currently training to be a Fire Fighter! Allen Almazan is a full time student, and Ronan Sanchez is a Quality Administrative Assistant at an Oral Medtech company.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to us is our love of music. Whenever we don’t feel like writing, we don’t write. We don’t take shows we don’t have to, and although we try and mitigate it, everyone gets burnt out from time to time. However, when we do feel like music, we have a really good time playing, writing, and performing. Music has been a big escape and passion for all of us, and I’d have to say its one of the most therapeutic things someone can do. Expressing yourself in the form of art is something I recommend to everyone!
