Meet Roxanne Rivas of Made Brite Creations in The studio is located in the Southeast side of Houston.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanne Rivas.

Roxanne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2015 my daughter Bella was diagnosed with Autism. I was at a point where I could have either taken her diagnoses to a dark place or turn it into awareness. So I chose awareness. I went looking for an identifier to place on my daughter when we were in public. It was a way for me to help spread Autism awareness when we were out and about. But I couldn’t find one. With the help of my husband, we were able to design an Identifier, and that became our first product. Made Brite is a handmade product based company that helps spread awareness to not only autism but other disability’s. I hope that one day if my daughter is unable to go into the workforce, she can take over Made Brite and that can be her way of making a living for her self. We strive to always make products that are unique. We also love to support or donate funds to our local PPCD programs for party’s, field trips, or class products. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for Made Brite.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business with two kids, let alone a special needs one is challenging. Bella also was very sick in December of 2017 and was in the ICU and hospital for two weeks. Because of this illness, she also lost total hearing in her left ear and had borderline normal hearing in her right that requires her to have a hearing aid. But even with all these things stacked against her, she is an amazing little girl. Her struggles are very real, and something she deals with every day. She has high anxiety for daily things most people don’t even think about. So as her mom, it’s up to me to help her when these things come up, and help her get to a safe place again. So sometimes the creations process of the business does have to take a back seat, but she is the whole reason Made Brite exist and the whole reason I have the want to keep it going.

Please tell us about Made Brite Creations.
Made Brite is a handmade product based company. I make handmade jewelry and accessories and custom fannys, bags, and jackets. I would say I am most proud of the reason Made Brite was started. What sets Made Brite apart is its mission, and the reason Made Brite was started.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Being able to go out and play with childhood friends. That’s what I think about most when I think back to my childhood.
