Meet Rusti Hendrix of Uncle Bean’s Coffee in Woodland Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rusti Hendrix.

Rusti, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have worked in the service industry in every position for the last 24 years beginning when I was 16. I never dreamed I would one day have the opportunity to have my own business! I’ve been amazed by the outpour of support from those closest to me and the Houston community I proudly and humbly serve. It’s a privilege and a blessing to be able to be to contribute to this great city!

Has it been a smooth road?
I had many hiccups along the way, struggled with “industry life” and eventually gave up and gave in, to committing to bettering my community for myself, my family and spiritually. I would not have been able to do any of it without my partners beginning with my Dad, who believed in me most when others didn’t, Ruben Zamarippa, who endures the struggles and the rewards side by side and Edwin Seiling who was brave enough to take the risk!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a small family-owned coffee shop serving local Houston and Texas roasted coffee and pastries. We partner with local schools and organizations to raise awareness and funds to contribute to community efforts that are important to us. We are known for serving unique and specialty coffee from our small shop with a dog friendly patio and drive thru. We have a staff that is committed to quality of product, education and providing the best customer service possible in a fun and relaxed work environment.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes! Houston is so full of opportunities! I am continuously dreaming of what can I do next and we’ve only been open 90 days! But that’s because of Houston’s culture, diversity and generosity. There’s something for everyone and the possibilities are truly endless.
