Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Bernardo.
Hi Ryan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
During my early teenage years, my father started flipping houses before people even knew what that meant. I remember seeing the process of property acquisition, renovation, marketing homes, and selling homes through the eyes of my dad. It was great renovating run-down properties and transforming them into something you could be really proud of. Fast forward a few years later, I graduated from the University of Houston and then spent my time working in sales and business consulting in the corporate arena. I really enjoyed my time post-college because I learned so much from colleagues and mentors around me, but I wanted to re-direct my focus on being involved with all things real estate related. My Mother always taught me that opportunities are infinite if you work hard and are extremely kind. I took that advice as I transitioned into real estate working as an investor, developer, and Realtor. The part that I enjoy most is representing clients with their transactions as a real estate agent. I enjoy working with a wide array of clients with different backgrounds and goals, from first-time home buyers to experienced real estate developers and investors.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were definitely lots of challenges along the way, just like with anything new. I spent a lot of time studying contracts, understanding permits, learning about the construction phases, and made mistakes in between as a developer and investor. From the Realtor side, I’ve learned to use each transaction as a way to improve my processes for my next client. Every transaction is different, so I look at each one as a way to display and sharpen my skills while also make the process informative and fun for my clients.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Within my community and network, I’m known for as the Realtor resource who is well-versed in real estate investing. Many of my clients started out with me as first-time home buyers but have now transitioned to investing in rental properties. Being an investor myself helps me guide my clients from a standpoint of experience to help make their investing journey as smooth as possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe luck has played a significant role in my business because I believe that opportunities are everywhere. I consistently look to learn something new every day in my industry and surround myself with people that are several levels ahead of where I want to be in my profession. Surrounding myself with mentors, a strong support system, and people who inspire me is what has helped me become reputable in my industry.
