Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryon Oates.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ryon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started in 2010, The Door Guys. I was a previous master carpenter and found the door service business after Hurricane Ike in 2008. I then worked for box stores and then saw a specialty in the service industry of installation doors. Lots of doors!
We are not tied to any manufacturer so we install everything and we do not sell anything to push. We do one thing well and that’s installing residential entry doors and all walk through doors. We like to educate our customers what types of doors are available and how to help with our weather conditions with better products to hold up.
We simplify the process and try to request a few pictures and measurements by email and begin the process. We may install a single back door to a high-end front door or inside entryway that had no doors at all. We have installed over 10,000s doors and our customers love us.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges, with as many doors that we install, 80 to 100 per month it has been difficult to depend on door vendors to have doors assembled correctly and damage free. Whether it’s a warehouse or box store, it seems there are things that can go wrong and then we come to the rescue to help fix or accommodate the needs. Hard to explain. We are problem solvers and think outside the box for consumers.
The Door Guys – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a specialty Residential door installation company. We only install doors and frames with new ones. We do some window conversions and create doors. We close off interior entryways that have no doors with new doors and side windows to close off room into a study or office.
We are known as the Door Guys. We have more outside contractors that refer us and we do not know them but they know of our company. I am a proud owner to be able to run a business that helps customers with the door process.
When we do not mark anything up or push anything our customers appreciate the no pressure approach and then have me to help them to prevent any surprises for either of us. Most of our business comes from word of mouth. I am also proud to have installers that have worked with me for over six years and they do great work. most Door companies sell doors but do not install. Our customers can look us up and see the best reviews and feedback for any contractors out there because we do one thing and one thing only, install doors.
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
My proudest moment is being able to contribute to supporting installers and their families with a great job that has greater benefits than others in this field. I am very proud of having built this business and do not depend on anything to succeed. NOT Inventory dependent. Our customers love us. That tells me everything.
