Today we’d like to introduce you to Safia Jafri.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been an English teacher for 27 years. My husband’s job in the Merchant Navy has led us to travel and experience different cultures, extensively I have taught in India, Argentina and now for several years in the US… I had former experience with owning and operating another learning center. I bought the EyeLevel franchise in 2015. I currently own two Centers one in Sugarland and one in Missouri City: Sienna Plantation.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am passionate about teaching and interacting with kids. Owning and operating a business is never a smooth road but when you enjoy what you do everything seems to become easy and it doesn’t seem like a job.
Eye Level Learning – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business Eye Level Learning primarily teaches kids from Kindergarten to high school. It is an afterschool tutoring service offering. Math, Reading and writing programs which covers material from preschool to early high school level. The EyeLevel program includes a systematic approach with supporting materials which allowed for an individual starting point based on his or her ability. Eye Level Math has two main sections- basic thinking Math and critical thinking math.
Eye Level English focuses on four main fundamental skills- reading, listening, writing, and speaking; within the program, students have the ability to reinforce their English skills.
What sets us apart is our low student-teacher ratio 4 is to 1 and our Critical Thinking Math program which helps students with thinking outside the box and the ability to solve Math problems critically.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career has been when parents tell me that students I tutored are doing so well academically, have gotten into good colleges and subsequently good jobs.
As a mother, whose daughter was also tutored by my learning center and is doing well professionally, it gives me great pride and satisfaction.
