

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Griffin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Savvy & Sam was started with the idea in mind to teach our daughter (who is the Savvy portion of our name) that hard work pays off and you can do anything you set your mind to. The bakery also honors the memory of my grandmother who currently is struggling with advanced Alzheimer’s disease. Every summer when I was a child she would pull me aside at least once a day to show me something involving either cooking or baking. It is because of her that I know all the techniques I use today in my business when fulfilling orders.
Later in life, I used my skills as a way to make gifts for friends and family and one day just decided to go into business for myself and my family. Fast forward just 3 years later and I am booked out for up to a 2 weeks at a time, have become a local name and make enough financially to help my family. I absolutely love serving my surrounding community and have been blessed with how strong our word of mouth reputation we has become.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Baking was always the easy part haha. Business optimization has been a long learning process. Building our website from scratch then having to remodel it to better serve our customers was definitely a headache. Admin work has never been my personal strength admittingly. I really just want to bake and make people happy!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I think one of the major things that sets me a part from the other bakers in the area is that I not only offer custom requests, but I’m one of the few bakeries in the area that offer delivery as well. Most of my clients if not all would agree that the one thing that sets our baked goods above others is taste. It might not always look the best, but it will be the best bread or pastry you’ve ever had.
What’s next?
We are looking forward to growing our customer base and continuing to serve our community. I do have a couple new pastries in mind for the upcoming holiday season so I’m excited to see what customers will think!
