Meet Samantha Heligman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Heligman.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I began working in clay ten years ago during college at Savannah College of Art and Design. I have always liked working with my hands and pottery made sense. I made it my full-time job just under three years ago. I wanted to create a business that was creative but useful. I wanted to make things for people who like me love to cook and create a comfortable home. Thus Settle was born. My goal was to create items that could be used daily and be cherished.

Please tell us about your art.
I believe in making objects that mean something, items that are meant to be cherished for years, generations. We live in a disposable world and the idea of objects being precious has lost a bit of its luster to most people. I want to change that. So I make what I make with the intent that they will last, become your favorite mug or bowl. I hope when you purchase one of my creations you will cherish it as I did.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Instagram is a wonderful tool for the modern artist. I use it daily in my business to connect with my contemporaries and speak to my audience.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My work is available for purchase through my website! I also have many retailers throughout the US that carry the work as well. The list can be found on my website!
