Meet Samara Kalz of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samara Kalz.

Hi Samara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been an avid reader all my life. I wrote here and there but never published anything until this year. I kept telling myself that I have so many things I would like to share with the world. Stories and experiences that are worthy of telling. I love fantasy and that is where I thrive, in the world of imagination where anything can happen.

Im a mom of two, so the journey wasn’t always easy. having to take care of a family and a household is a lot of work while trying to peruse your dreams and create something alone.
Being and indie author was one of the many great choices I’ve made in my life. Having the freedom to control everything about my work might be overwhelming some days but it is liberating to know that no one else gets to control you, your time, or your work.

Determination and hard work is how I got here. It really takes a village to accomplish things. I love my author friends and other individuals who have supported me and pushed me forward when things were hard. But here I am finally published and working forward to publishing my next book.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you do something for the first time, there is always some sort of a struggle in one way or another.
As an indie author the struggle is always marketing. Getting your book to the right audience. your job doesn’t stop at just finish writing the book. You haven to search for the right artist and the right editor and proof reader to get your book to be the best version of your work.
Then comes the marketing and putting yourself out there for the world to see. And that on its own is a full time job that takes away from your writing time.
Finding the right team that can work with your individual need as an author is something very important because they play a core role in bringing your vision to life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an indie author, I write fantasy and romance books for adults and young adults. I’m known for my debut novel Visions of Eterna. It’s a book about found family, self discovery and adventure. Slow burn romance and friendship. where magic and prophecy collide to save the world. I write to empower women. I like to give the female protagonist the lead and have her save herself and the world around her instead of being the damsel in distress. I think the world need to see more stories like these in life to be able to believe in themselves and navigate the real world now a days.
Visions of Eterna talks about Mia who has always sensed something just out of reach, like a word on the tip of her tongue, or a dream forgotten too soon.
On her twenty-first birthday, she wakes with no memory of the night before. It isn’t the first time. Blackouts. Visions. A growing feeling that she doesn’t fully belong in the life she’s living. When her parents confess she’s adopted, with no record of where she came from, the unease sharpens into something else, a pull she can’t ignore.
Then she meets a stranger, and everything begins to unravel—a history Mia never knew, a city hidden from the world, and a journey that will take her beyond the world she thought she belonged to.
Eterna was once a place of wonder, a city that never stopped blooming. Now, the magic that sustained it is fading. The land is cracking. And Mia may be more entangled in its fate than anyone is prepared to admit.
With her best friend by her side, and resentment simmering among those she meets—especially a man whose bitterness runs deeper than she understands—Mia must now navigate a world that remembers her, even if she doesn’t remember it.
Some answers come looking for you.
Some places never let you go.
And some destinies are written long before you’re ready to claim them.

Im proud of the final product of my book. It’s been shining and I love how the hard work I poured into it is paying off.
It’s not about fame and being the best selling author. It’s about feeling accomplished and having created something that people are enjoying and living in a world that was created from my imagination.
With this accomplishment I wanted to show my children that no matter where you are in life, and no matter what you are going through, it’s never too late to work towards your dreams and push forward. It’s about never giving up.

My stories are stand alone, fast pace, and unique in their own way. They have their own deep emotional impact and strong family bonds that make my characters stand out. I’m happy that my books are available worldwide In bookstores and can be found on Amazon as well.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Making connections with people in the same profession can be the best way to find mentors. Especially people who have been in the business longer than you. They can shed light on what are the pros and cons in making specific choices because they simply have more experience.
What worked for me as an author, and helped me tremendously, I worked very closely with other authors for three years as an author assistant while writing my novel. I learned so much from them and what are the right ropes to use forward. I would like to say by doing that it made the journey a bit more clear. I had an outline of what needed to be done ahead of time. I set the road ahead and followed it. They were always there to answer questions along the way. The truth is we all make mistakes and learn from them. Mentors are very important in any profession you choose they are there to guide you.
