Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Solis Jr and Jasmine Petrarca.
Samuel and Jasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when we purchased our first camera in 2015, not knowing that photography and videography would become our full-time jobs. We were both working at vitamin stores part-time while going to school and taking videos and photos on the side. It started off locally by doing small low budget shoots here and there.
And grew as we collaborated with Brands other wedding companies and friends and family. We work on all types of shoots, commercial work, family portraits, and weddings and continue to grow our name within the Houston community. This passion has not only brought us together as a couple but also helped us find our passion in life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been an easy journey. In December of two-thousand eighteen, our car was broken into. While carrying around over $15,000 worth of camera equipment. Basically, everything we had worked for in the past four years. It felt like the end of the line since we did not have any theft insurance for all of the camera gear. Luckily with the help of past clients and friends, a go fund was created where we managed to raise half of the amount that was lost. And here we are today blessed to have managed to recover most of the equipment that was lost.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the J&S Media story. Tell us more about the business.
We are J&S Media we specialize in Weddings, Family Portraits, and Studio Work. But where we differentiate ourselves is that we also do work that is not very common, we work for social media influencers all around the United States. We’ve completed work for brands such as BUFFBUNNY COLLECTION and INAKA POWER. And run different pages while traveling all around the United States.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I mean we were lucky that we had built such an amazing client list and group of friends that helped us get back on our feet. And we’re so happy we are able to do what we do today.
