Meet Sandra Del Cid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Del Cid.

Hi Sandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I wanted to be an actress since I was five years old. In 2017 I worked in major productions as an extra in Queen of the south, the long road home, Murder made me famous, among others. After being on set so much I decided to make my own film. I wanted my film to be full of action and not a boring love story. In 2017 I found out Houston is #1 in sex trafficking. I lived in Houston all my life so this was a shock to me. I decided to make a film about sex trafficking to bring awareness. I wrote the script; produced, directed and acted in the film. As an indie film maker I had a low budget. The film is fiction. We finally had our premiere for cast and crew on February 12, 2022. We have submitted to film festivals and we are super excited.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Making a movie is not easy. It was not a smooth road. The main obstacle was money. I had several actors come from Austin, Texas I had to pay them. This meant I had to save to pay them. I funded the film myself. I’m not rich so money was an issue. Hollywood makes a movie in one year. It took me from 2017 to 2019 filming. 2020 nothing was done due to the pandemic. The whole 2021 my editor had the film editing. One of the most important parts of the film is good editing. My editor and I met many times because of the pandemic we met outdoors to feel safer from the virus.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have always been very creative. I know how to draw, act and can write scripts from scratch. Ever since I was five years I was drawing and writing romantic stories. I actually sold some in elementary school for fifty cents to classmates. Very funny memory.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Raquel’s Legacy is fiction but women are being kidnapped all over Houston to make them sex slaves. It is important for women to be very aware of their surroundings when in a parking lot. It is important for women to put their cell phones away when out and about and be careful out there. After we are done with film festivals the public will be able to view film on a website. The trailers are on you tube. It is important to talk to your children as well.
