Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Gonzalez.
Sandy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello, my name is Sandy Gonzalez and I am the owner of Rustic Romance Rentals an event rental & styling company located in the heart of The Texas Hill Country. I have spent most of my life passionate about Interior Design but because I pursued a business education my passion then became a hobby, always decorating our home or assisting others in decorating their homes and always planning and decorating special events. It wasn’t until after our 2nd daughter was married that we found ourselves with a room full of wedding furnishings and decor that I wondered if I could create a business using everything I had. One Summer while I was in California I came across a local wedding magazine and discovered a vintage rental company offering furniture rentals and styling and it was then that I realized that I could actually turn my passion into a reality. In the Summer of 2015, I launched Rustic Romance Rentals offering vintage, rustic and bohemian furniture rentals and decor and offering a unique service to our area, our Design & Styling Service. Since launching RRR we have been a part of many beautiful and unforgettable weddings. We have also had the amazing opportunity to work along side an incredible group of wedding industry vendors in numerous Photo Styled Shoots. Many of these Styled Shoots have been published and featured in national & international blogs such as; Wedding Chicks, The Ruffled Blog, Boho Weddings (UK), Borrowed & Blue and many more. We have also had our work published and printed in our local wedding magazine, San Antonio Weddings Magazine. Today our clients can preview our inventory on our website and because we cater to the “online shopper” we have made every effort to make their rental selection process effortless & enjoyable.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have definitely had our share of challenges! Our second year in business we bought a brand new cargo trailer 3 months later it was stolen from our driveway (did I mention it was full of rentals). Towards the end of our third year in business I was hospitalized during our busiest season fortunately my family stepped in to help. Our biggest challenge to date has been trying to figure out how to create a strong presence on the different social media platforms and for this technologically challenged gal it’s a daily struggle. Is there a secret to this because it sure would make my life a whole lot easier?!
Rustic Romance Rentals – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an Event Rental & Styling Company, we specialize in highlighting the focal points of a wedding/special event. We offer the largest selection of bohemian furniture & decor rentals in our area. In addition to our rentals & styling services we also offer a virtual design service. This is an interior design based service and it is available for all of our lounge packages. This service allows us to create a design layout for our clients based on their lounge furniture & decor selections. Our Event Rentals, Styling and Virtual Design Services are what make Rustic Romance Rentals a truly unique rental company.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think the proudest moment of my career has been to see our work in print. It’s one thing to see your work online but it’s something different to see it in the pages of a magazine.
