Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah aka Vida Guerra.
Hi Vida, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started 3 years ago, when I prayed my way into being employed at Johnny Dang and Co. I remember praying that if it was for me, to let it be. I was promoted about a year later into jewelry sales. Sometime after that, some friends and I chopped it up about starting a cannabis brand. I soon became more interested when a client of mine gave me game on the start up process etc. I started building the brand, and the friends I first discussed it with, may have more-so been infatuated with the idea rather than actually putting in the work. As things were getting together, there were things & people who soon fell off, but I kept my idea alive & kept pushing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been smooth, rocky, bumpy and all the above lol. It is taking some time to get to the final destination, but it’s a work in progress. A bump or two along the way could have been partners falling off, them not being invested as much as I am, or people I work with not seeing eye to eye to a certain degree. Regardless, I’ve learned to be ok with the extra work. After all, no risk, no reward!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My full-time job is being a jeweler at the famous, Johnny Dang & Co., where I’m known as the first Official Diamond Girl. I specialize in creating custom pieces such as grillz, necklaces, pendants and more. I’ve been employed there for three years now and I’m capable of doing everything from inventory, grill molding, jewelry cleaning, to creating the ideas that are put behind each piece. Aside from that , I have my own Cannabis friendly brand , Pretty Girl Smoke and a talent booking agency, É Vida Agency. It has taken a lot to get to where I am today. The growth is real from the knowledge that I’ve gained, the places I’ve been, the people I’ve met. What makes me most proud about all of this & being in my position is that I make it look easy to someone from the outside looking in. What they don’t know is the pressure that comes behind being in a high profile, luxurious environment, and working to build, plus motherhood, & self care, etc. There’s been highs & lows, and where most people would of gave up at, I prospered through & kept going. My resilience and my professionalism are most definitely what sets me apart from others.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I’ve learned throughout the Covid crisis to take advantage of opportunities and time while it’s in your best interest. Respect other’s opinions and ways of life . Freedom of choice is what I believe in. No one should be forced to go against what they believe. Stand in what you believe or fall for anything.
