Meet Sasha Ray of Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Ray

Hi Sasha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I learned how to hold a whisk before I took my very first steps, so naturally baking has always been one of my passions. I decided to take that gift and put it to use to help support people in need while doing what I love most! I had a dream when I was little to open my own bakery and always talked about doing so. In about the 6th grade, I took it upon myself to bake for all my friends and teachers one day. It slowly started to grow and more and more people began asking for my treats. After many friends insisted, I decided to create a website and start selling! I made quite a bit of money each month and realized I didn’t need all the profits to run it; so I began donating what I earned to charities and organizations. And to this day, I still do so and it is such a joy to brighten someone’s day through baking! My hope is that one day I can turn it into a real shop!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not quite smooth, being in school and my workplace being my own house’s kitchen isn’t the most convenient (especially when you get an order for over 100 cupcakes and cookies) I’m also a self taught baker so everything I try is usually an experiment that comes with lots of trial and error. Managing the load of high school work and a small business isn’t always easy, but baking is the biggest stress relief ever for me, so I’ve learned to use it my advantage against my busy schedule!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I bake all sorts of custom baked goods from sweet to savory! I specialize in custom cakes and am known for making custom birthday cakes and themed goodies like (gender reveal cake pops or minion sugar cookies). I am most proud of how far I’ve come with cakes! I used to not even be able to make one get out a pan and I could barely pipe frosting to save my life. It’s crazy to me how good I’ve gotten at it, sometimes I finish a cake and wonder how it came from my doing! What sets me apart from others is that I don’t bake for money or income, I bake because of love and passion for it and the joy in seeing others smile and making people happy through my baking! I use whatever money I do receive from doing so in trying to help other people lives or days become a bit better!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
