Savannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Opening Island Salon in 2011 was the beginning of a wonderful dream. This statement of philosophy in regards to pedagogy, professional ambitions, beauty consultant and life lessons come with great thought and conviction. A position of honesty, integrity and fairness has always been the basis of my professional and personal creed. While appreciating the importance of a vocation, it is a privilege for me to have the opportunity to share thirty-six years of practical experience and knowledge. I continually gain knowledge, both professional and personally, with no career restrictions and the capability to peruse different aspects of the beauty industry.

Servicing as well as teaching people of cultural, spiritual and ethnic differences, has given me greater compassion and a true understanding of diversity. Having the ability to understand hardships, pleasing clients when they want to look and feel beautiful as well as motivating students is an educator’s, esthetician and stylist purpose. Being experienced, displaying loyalty while exalting smart, practical yet, fair judgment is the basis of my methods for success. Guided by a higher power, creates a higher standard of professional and moral ethics. Superior work principles, demonstrating willingness and the ability to work well with others has been and continues to be, my ultimate objective.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The most difficult thing is finding the right independent contractors to work in the salon.
