Today we’d like to introduce you to Sháni Pope
Hi Sháni, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for media started at a young age. I would stare at the electronics part of magazines, looking at ALL of the video cameras and praying my mother would purchase the one I circled. She never did but as I got older, my interests in videography, photography, and editing grew. I went on to study Mass Communications, with a focus in Television Production at Virginia State University. I joined the Mass Communications Club and started working in my department. That’s when doors started opening. By my sophomore year, I created Marvelous Pope Productions.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The love I have for what I do makes me look at every challenge as a learning opportunity/life lesson. I’m a one-woman business, so I’ve had to learn and do a lot on my own. There was a time when I sat down and created my first website and that took me 8 hours to do. I was so determined to make it happen that I didn’t even care how long it would take. On the business side of it all, I’ve learned the importance of contracts and making sure my client and I both know EXACTLY what they want. At the end of the day, I just want to bring their vision to life.

At Marvelous Pope Productions we speicialize in videography, photography, sports photography, voiceover, and graphic design. We primarily serve the Northeast areas of Houston, Spring, The Woodlands, and St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. We strive to give you quality customer service and bring your vision to life. One aspect of my brand that I’m most proud of is highlighting businesses in the Virgin Islands. I LOVE shining the light on businesses that I feel the community in the Virgin Islands needs to learn more about.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
There are a lot of things that make me happy. Telling people about my culture, hitting a new PR in a workout, highlighting small business, spending time with my family, and volunteering are just some of the things that make me happy. At any given moment, you can hear me teaching somebody about the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Kitts, St. Vincent or the history of the Garifuna (Black Caribs) people. Oh, and dancing! Dancing can shake off any bad mood I might be feeling.
