Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanida Littlejohn “The Beauty Therapist”
Shanida, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since a very young age, I’ve always been interested in all things beauty. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the support of my parents to pursue my dreams. Then becoming a single teenage mother of 3 my desire to pursue my passions was again halted. I haven’t had the opportunity until recently to give it my all. In January 2018, I enrolled in an evening 320 hour Eyelash Extension course at San Jacinto College, which where I obtained my Eyelash Extension Specialty license and opened my first studio in Webster, TX of May 2018. In May 2019, I was laid off from my job of 12 years at JPMorgan, and while that was a major cut from my main source of income it was a huge push in the right direction for me. Shortly after being laid off, I enrolled in the Ogle school of beauty and will be graduating in April 2020 as a Licensed Cosmetologist. While in continued pursuit of my cosmetology license, I’m still providing beauty services which include; Eyelash Extensions, Microblading, Lash Lifting, Facial Waxing, and Hair Services.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely wasn’t a smooth ride. Trying to balance work, school, and kids was very challenging. Lately, the challenge has been juggling clientele while being a full-time student. Nevertheless, I have pushed through and been able to continue to provide our clients with top tier service.
