Meet Shannon Jackson of She Is Beauté in Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Jackson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I always knew I belonged in the beauty industry and on stage performing. I fell in love with the Glitz and Glam. When I was younger like 2nd grade, I always carried lipgloss in my purse. In Middle school, I started with colored wing liner. By high school, I was able to put on eyeshadow from the beauty supply and of course since I was on the drill team we had to put on a face full of makeup. A girl would ask me to help them with their eyeshadow or wing eyeliner early mornings in the dance room. I knew then, I wanted to help women feel beautiful and apply makeup the right way. I always dreamed of owning my own cosmetics and skincare line. So, once I graduated from high school, I wanted to go to cosmetology school and Texas southern university at the same time but couldn’t. That would’ve been a lot on me considering I was raising a one-year-old. So, I decided to attend Texas Southern University fall 2013 majoring in business management & minoring in Theatre Arts. I got my DBA 2015 doing makeup for photo shoots and fashion shows. In 2017, I decided to just go for it launching my cosmetics line “She Is Beauté Cosmetics” handmade liquid highlighters. I’ve been making my own cosmetics and skincare products. I would tell my family and friends how to make face and body care from household natural food products to clear up their acne or just to have a nice facial mask. I would record videos for YouTube and never upload them because I was discouraged. The first year of my cosmetics line wasn’t successful but I kept going. Now, I have expanded to lipgloss, highlighters, eyelashes and hope to have a complete line of different products in the future. I do plan to upload more videos on my YouTube channel to inspire many women especially young moms & work with many brands.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This road has been very bumpy… like I slid off the road a few time. Being a young mother, I had to try to find the balance between motherhood, having a successful business, & college. I tend to overthink a lot so instead of going for it I would stop myself or procrastinate. I could’ve been doing big things but I would put things off. I battle with depression so I would deal with that and just be to myself and not focus on my business. I had many financial problems also so that was hard funding my business. I feel like there will always be a struggle you just have to learn how to make it look glamorous & think positive

We’d love to hear more about your work.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always sassy and multi-passionate. I think my parents got tired of me adding careers to my list and just told me to go for it. I’ve always been this goofy, down to earth, caring person. I’ve always been a dreamer. I was always interested in modeling, dancing, theatre, and music. I hope to incorporate my talents with my business.
