Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantel Carter, LaQuisha Mitchell, Labatiste Kennedy, and Monica Gary.
Queenin Podcast began with four sister-friends who were ready to take their walk with Christ seriously.
We met at our church and formed a bond through various activities, classes, and outings. As we grew closer, the idea of a podcast came to Qui and she brought the idea to everyone. Shantel had been thinking the same thing and from there the four ladies decided that this would be a great way to share our testimonies, trials, and everyday issues with other believers and nonbelievers alike. We wanted to create a platform in which EVERYONE would feel comfortable and be able to spread love no matter where you were currently or how you were feeling about your journey.
After a year of procrastination and putting the podcast idea on the back burner, the ladies finally sat down and decided to record our first episode in June 2018. We recorded our “Meet The Queens” episode in Monica’s closet with Qui’s iPhone. Needless to say, the sound quality wasn’t perfect but we were so excited to finally be putting our thoughts into action. After recording in the closet a couple of times, we were able to get to a slot scheduled at Royal Vibes Studio. This changed our entire vibe of the Queenin Podcast. Now, the sound quality was perfect, we were able to relax and put out quality work. We’ve been doing the podcast for a year now and we have moved to a new studio.
Over the year, we have done live podcast events, interactive challenges with our listeners, contests, and more. We were excited then and still continue to push forward in the podcast/broadcasting industry.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ha! No road is ever smooth, right? The hardest thing to overcome has been ourselves as individuals. We are 4 strong women who have led very different lives. God brought us together for a purpose and recognizing that has been the easiest pinpoint for our friendship and the podcast. Coming together to mesh our ideas, opinions, work ethics, etc. has proven to be a challenge – as it would with any new company or group. We count on prayer and communication to keep things smooth and running. And honestly, that’s been our meshing point. Our beliefs are what keeps us going. Not to mention, we are like sisters. Everything isn’t going to be peachy-keen but we recognize how we help one another and uplift one another and that outweighs any issue we have come across.
Queenin Podcast – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Queenin Podcast falls under the broadcasting industry. We utilize different streaming platforms such as iTunes, GooglePlay, Spotify, etc. to put out great podcast episodes that can be heard no matter where you are. Think of us as a radio show available at any time. We like to believe our podcast is different for a few reasons. First and foremost, our center is Jesus Christ. No matter the subject being brought to the table, we always remind ourselves and our listeners that we aren’t acting alone. We are guided by what we believe God wants us to do. We do our best not to bring guests or topics that God hasn’t told us to give our listeners. Another way we feel we are different is because our topics aren’t really based on current events or trending topics. We use our own lives as direct references when recording and do our best to rely on God to lead us in conversation. We are proud to be Christ believers who have walked life with and without Christ as our center. That means that although we are believers, we are also human. We get it. We fall short, we don’t understand why things are the way they are. And the ladies of Queenin Podcast still struggle to live a Christ-like life. What better way to connect with people of like-minds or people who are trying to figure out where they stand than, to be honest, and transparent about our lives. We aren’t perfect and we want to spread love amongst all imperfect people.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success comes in any forms for us as individuals. Some of us are pursuing business ventures outside of our careers and the podcast. As a podcast, success boils down to whether or not we are using our gifts to reach the people. Our whole objective is to touch as many lives as possible with our testimonies. We admit that every episode that we record doesn’t go as planned. Some of them we question after the show is done. And then there are those where we instantly love everything about how the episode came together. The most defining moments come when we receive feedback from our listeners saying how much a particular episode helped them or touched them. Reaching just 1 person is enough. To reach many is beyond us and we are grateful for each and every one of our listeners. Especially those who interact with us via social media, texts, email, etc. A simple share or comment makes our day.

I really enjoyed the article about the four beautiful women who can take one thing and spread it out. I love how they use Jesus Christ first and make sure that everything else will follow . They are doing a awesome job .
