Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaquanna Johnson.
Hi Shaquanna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My inspiration to become an esthetician stemmed from dealing with excessive breakouts and pigmentation issues as an adolescent. After trying everything from natural remedies to prescribed creams and ointments, I became intrigued with my skin health. I noticed that some of my friends and family had the same issues. At that time, I began researching correction and healing methods that could help myself and others. I decided that helping people reach their optimum level of skin health was not only a passion but would be my purpose.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nu Image Skin and Body Studio began in a spare bedroom in my apartment and grew into a six-room full-service salon. “A Nu image one client at a time” is the salon’s motto. While the transition into full entrepreneurship hasn’t been easy, I stood by my vision of helping others; I faced construction issues during renovation and had to shut down early due to COVID.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer hypoallergenic, organic skincare treatments. Many satisfied customers have urged me to add “Waxologist” to my title along with Facialist and Skincare Specialist. My waxing services at NU Image have been noted as one of the best waxing treatments customers have experienced.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that the city is growing drastically every day which for me means more clients and relationships are going to be built in the near future. The least thing that I like about it is the traffic.
