Sharetha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been passionate about the proven health and wellness benefits of massage therapy – which are backed by leading health institutions such as the Mayo Clinic. In 2014, I was still an educator in the public-school system; however, I had made up my mind that it was time for me to pursue my passion in aiding one’s healing. I enrolled at Cortiva Institute in Houston because it provided me with the opportunity to pursue a career I was passionate about while still maintaining my independence, flexibility, and freedom. With convenient day and night classes, I was able to work during the day and attend classes at night – talk about dedication and will power. One thing that really drew me to Cortiva Institute is that you can earn a diploma in as little as 7.5 months. You can truly do whatever you set your mind to do!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When you’ve lived 31 years with an employee mindset and you dive headfirst into entrepreneurship, you’re going to learn a plethora of lessons! The main struggle was within: I had to totally transform my mind. When you’re in a position of being an employee, you truly don’t understand how an entire system is set in place to run smoothly. You just show up and do your job. When you’re a business owner, you must create the system, take care of the back office, handle distribution and marketing, and most importantly, ensure employees who help run your company feel appreciated and know they are an asset to your business. My journey was not without challenges, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Owning my own business has taught me valuable life lessons and I can pursue my passion of massage therapy.

Healing Energy Massage & Naturopathic Wellness is a mobile massage business and we specialize in Energy Work. There are many different types of energy modalities such as Reiki, Craniosacral Therapy, Acupressure, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Crystal Therapy, Sound Healing, Frequency Healing, etc. In my business, we are most known for Naturopathic Reiki Therapy. What am I most proud of? The courage I had to launch my business, which has allowed me to discover how powerful I really am. I knew little about business but was confident that my passion and rigorous education from Cortiva Institute would set me up for success. I’m also proud of all the testimonials I receive from clients. To me, this proves natural healing can make a difference in your life.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I wanted to be a ballet dancer. I loved to dance. Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, all of it. However, I had a gift and passion for science and health topics, which my mom encouraged. While everyone was into The Baby-Sitter’s Club, I read books on astrology and astronomy. It was so much more interesting and held my attention. It’s rewarding to own a business that allows me to extend this passion for science and health into my adult life.
