Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharita Humphrey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sharita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m passionate about teaching people, especially the everyday middle-class individual, the importance of financial education. After I hit financial rock bottom years ago and had to rebuild my life and make it stronger, I realized I could turn my knowledge of finance into a way to help those silently struggling both personally and financially. I have always worked in the finance, auditing, and accounting industry. I worked as a tax examiner and auditor for the State of Texas for some time and saw the daily impact of middle-class business owners consistently struggling with not only their business finances but also their personal finances.
I watched so many small businesses, unfortunately, have to close their doors because of their lack of financial knowledge, resources and how to properly manage their finances. This ultimately had a negative impact on their personal lives as well. It was so hard to watch at times and I could no longer morally accept that I was not able to educate people on how to make positive financial changes that I knew were possible, so I left my government position. I believe that sharing my financial knowledge to make people’s organizations and businesses succeed was more important. I now work to educate people on their finances in various industries across the United States.
Has it been a smooth road?
My journey to where I am now has certainly, not been a smooth one. I’m not a risk taker in the traditional sense. I’m a person who loves structure and I’m an avid planner. I was very hesitant about leaving my government position because it was what I would consider my security blanket at the time. I was so scared of the unknown and at times it caused me to doubt whether or not I should go after my dreams. That was a struggle that created analysis paralysis and stress.
It’s not so easy to just step out on faith, even when you have a passion that you know is your purpose. I didn’t have a mentor at the time so I learned so much in the beginning by trial and error. Those trials and errors almost made me reconsider my decision of leaving my job. I’m so thankful looking back now that I didn’t run back to what was easy. I realized that the harder the challenge the greater the reward.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a certified financial educator, coach, and speaker. I work with individuals, married couples and budding entrepreneurs. I provide financial services from a more holistic approach. My main objective is to provide financial knowledge and tools that will shift the mindsets of my clients to improve their overall financial position. I’m known for helping people to eliminate debt, increase their savings and improve their credit scores.
What makes my coaching programs unique is that every client’s financial and credit situation is analyzed, and they’re given a personalized road map along with a goals checklist for each checkpoint along their journey. My clients remain in the driver’s seat of their finances, I’m the navigation system to help assist them to get their desired financial destination.
Finances are a very personal topic and being transparent with my clients has allowed me to become more than a coach to those who work with me. Most of my competitors are more focused on a client’s end-results. My company’s formula is being there for our clients every step of the way and celebrating each milestone along the journey.
What I’m most proud of as a company is being recognized by AllBusiness.com, Forbes, and MSN as one of the five fastest-growing businesses in 2018. I’m even more proud to be a partner and brand ambassador for the Austin-based credit builder company, Self Lender. To achieve so many amazing accomplishments keeps me motivated to continue to use my platform to bring even more awareness to financial literacy and credit education.
Remember, everyone achieving financial independence is a marathon, not a sprint. You will achieve your goals and it will be worth all of the sacrifice and hardwork.
